The future of Sports & Leisure in Liphook
- Trevor Maroney (2nd Dec 2013 - 18:12:28)
Your views on this subject have been added to the News Page on the Parish Plan website at www.liphookplan.co.uk
These views have been obtained through consultation with sports representatives, from public meetings, various forums and several studies and reports. The conclusions from this section will now be converted into recommendations and the final Plan.
What do you think, have we got it right? You can either add to the debate on this site or send me at email at tmaroney17@gmail.com or write me a note, however brief, c/o the Parish Office. All views would be most welcome.
Your Parish Plan Steering Group needs your help in mapping future developments in our parish.

The team working on the Parish Plan would still like to hear your views on the Sports & Leisure section before drafting the recommendations. This is your chance to help create the best facilities for current and future generations. Please help us to get it right.

Good evening Trevor
That's for the reminder to review and respond to the sports section of the Parish Plan. I have this evening read it through and note that Liphook has a good variety of sports facilities locally, albeit that the most developed - as I see it - relates to football and new options for Liphook United to access facilities at Bohunt Manor.
My view (purely my own, and focusing on just one aspect) is that the need for a modern public gym and swimming pool in my mind ranks higher than any demand for extra housing in Liphook.
I feel Liphook would benefit from a local facility along the lines of the Herons or Leatherhead Leisure Centre as two examples that I have used recently. Presumably they could also offer some local employment opportunities, and if the facility had a crèche or cafe I would imagine it would gain more than just gym or swimming trade.
Purely a personal view, but I would welcome seeing a local facility being ranked highly for future development.
