Creating a running group in Liphook
- Andy Bawden (27th Nov 2013 - 15:25:29)

Hello there.

I am new to the area having moved here in September. I am a keen runner and cyclist in my mid 30s, and I am trying to find a running group or anyone who organises a regular weekly run in the Liphook area.

Is there anyone out there who fancies meeting up for a regular weekly run? would anyone like to help me organise a little running group?

Running with like minded people is a great motivator and much more sociable than plodding round solo.

Hi Andy I'm also a keen runner and cyclist and about 18 months ago I joined Haslemere border athletic club and haven't looked back, where there is a very active running club and tri club with many like minded runners, cyclists and swimmers,we run train on a Tuesday and Thursday at Woolmer hill at 7pm and Saturday mornings a hill session is provided at the punchbowl with coffee and cake after ,feel free to turn up and don't worry about how fast or slow you are as there is always 3 or 4 different paced groups you will be able to slot into for more info you could look at the Haslemere border athletic club website.

Im another Liphook resident that has joined HBAC in the last 12 months and can certainly recommend it as a friendly place to keep fit and compete if you want to. I run, cycle and swim with Daniel at the club and also ride and run from Liphook on my own or with others if I can\'t make an HBAC session so know a number of routes I\'d be happy to show you at a mutually convenient time.

Hi guys, thanks for your replies.

I am already a HBAC member (for the past 2 months) and have probably chatted to you on the Tri group email circular, however I haven't had a chance to get to any of the organised activities yet mainly due to work and also my own training schedule.

I hope in the new year to start going to either the Tuesday or Thursday run training at Woolmer Hill, the hill sessions at the punchbowl, and also the Sunday bike rides that are held.

The reason for the post was to find some people to run in and around Liphook, so I can enhance my own run sessions.

It would be great to take you up on your offer as a guide Matt if you are willing sometime. Feel free to email me on andrew.bawden1@btinternet.com

Yes, good idea. There are lots of good trails in this area but it is not always safe to run alone.

Hi

I've never really run much before and would be interested in one or two nights a week. Not very fit though!

Hi there,
I have also just moved to liphook and I am currently a member of waverly harriers ( sorry haslemere lot).
I too would be very keen to go out on some cross country runs ( evenings or weekends) and get to know the area a bit better. I am not too keen running on roads so if anyone knows the footpaths or bridle ways that would be great.
Please get in contact if anyone would like to get together.

I hate running, but really want to learn how to run, and indeed start to love running. I would love to join a club in the village
