Alternative routers for Talktalk
- Talktalk user (27th Nov 2013 - 14:05:52)

Hello everyone

I've recently switched to Talktalk broadband from BT and am not having a fun time with getting it working. While I wait for an engineer to visit in three weeks time(!) I'd like to try out some other compatible routers as I think the supplied model isn't all that great. Does anybody have an unused router from the list below that I could have please?

D-Link DSL-2680
D-Link DSL-2780
Netgear DGN - 2000(PRO)
D-Link DSL-2740R
Huawei HG533
Huawei HG523a
Huawei HG532
Huawei HG521
D-Link DSL-2640R
Huawei HG520B
Huawei HG520s
Netgear DG834 V3+
Netgear DG834 PN
Philips SNA5630 /SNK5630NS/ 05

Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks

Dear fellow TalkTalk user

How strange, we had been thinking of changing to BT but never quite go around to it. I have been with TalkTalk since they were Tiscali and we have had a few issues recently with lagging according to my children (Xbox Live) and also having to reset the router but I think that was more to do with a power cut (I'm no expert).

Synstar in Petersfield supplied and set up our router and on the whole it seems pretty efficient. We use a TP-Link TD-W8961ND although I have to say that router is not "supported" by TalkTalk so if you have an issue and they tell you to press the reset button (as they did to me) you are on your own with regards to setting it back up! Having said that, the TP Link telephone support were far better than TalkTalk!

Good luck.
