Mobile phone users
- Ian (24th Nov 2013 - 21:31:43)

Noticing large numbers of motorists using their mobile phones whilst negotiatiating The Square. Apart from this being illegal it is increadibly stupid and selfish, do we have to wait for a tragedy before it sinks in just what an insane thing to do. If you are tempted to use your phone whilst driving just think of the severe consequences, it really could be life changing!!!

I agree with you Ian, I have noticed several drivers lately trying to cross the roundabouts whilst having a little chat on their phone or even trying to text.

Does anyone know what happened with regards to volunteers helping the police with the speeding in the village/ I think mobile phone use is part of that scheme. I am sure there must be enough volunteers to carry this out, but I haven't seen it taking place, maybe someone has an update . It amazes me how people think all these laws don't apply to them!

The 'SPEEDWATCH' scheme is in the process of being established and there are already a number of Liphook residents who have agreed to assist the Police in this task more volunteers are being sought. If you are able to help please contact the Parish Office.

However I do not think that illegal and dangerous use of hand held devices in moving vehicles is part of their task.

I am not sure what is worse. Mobile phone users or hot coffee drinkers driving out of Old Thorns driving at speed in to Liphook past the two schools. Many cut the corners as it is tricky driving one handed. I have been cut up so many times and the white line in the middle of the road is very worn out which does not help.
