On-form Liphook hope to hit purple patch
- Henry Ascoli (14th Nov 2013 - 22:02:43)

Hampshire Premier League match preview
Otterbourne v Liphook United

BUOYED by successive victories in league and cup, Liphook United hit the road full of confidence and within touching distance of the top of the table, writes Henry Ascoli.
The boys in blue have netted 10 goals in two games, beating QK Southampton 4-1 in their own backyard, before thumping Bournemouth Sports 6-0 at the Recreation Ground last weekend.
A hat-trick from striker Steve Harding set United on the road to victory on home soil, but hopes of hitting a purple patch are tinged by concern over the side’s inconsistency this season.
The Otters take to the field battered and bruised from four successive defeats, including an agonisingly penalty shootout exit from the Hampshire Intermediate Cup at Richmond Park.
Victory for the visitors and positive results elsewhere would allow Liphook to head the Hampshire Premier League pack once again, while the Otters will be desperate to tackle their slump in form.
“This will probably be our toughest test compared to recent weeks,” explains Liphook assistant manager Pete Oliver, “We know Otterbourne will be very organised, and they are capable of playing decent football. It’s important we go into this expecting a battle and try to improve on recent performances.”
