Not for Shale - your land, your right
- sjenner (19th Oct 2013 - 06:21:59)

If you do not want companies (e.g. Celtique or Cuadrilla) to drill horizontally under your home then take a look at this site and register your intention not to grant them permission. Liphook and surrounding areas are potentially impacted.
It is unlawful for fracking companies to drill under your home without your permission...

It is a good idea to register at least as we in Liphook are under threat in the same way as Fernhurst.

Have signed this registering my opposing views.

Have added my signature. Don't want holes under my house.

My wife and I aren't particularly keen on holes under our house either. On the other hand, nor do we want to see wind farms on Bramshott Common, Weavers Down and other local beauty spots.

Paul

I don't think its either/or. Plus I don't think windfarms in the areas you mention would be very cost effective.

Do not think that we have to choose between fracking or wind farms? The wind farms are usually in different locations to here anyway.

The only answer in my humble opinion is nuclear power stations - which I reckon will be the main energy source in the not too distant future. Or, assuming there will be protests about them, what is the answer?

I agree with Paul that new nuclear power stations is the only sensible way to go for the future...

It's just such a shame that the only new one planned is going to be built by the French...WHY when the British have a far safer record in this industry?

Re: Not for Shale - your land, your right

Totally disagree about nuclear energy. Until we can get rid of the spent fuel, we are storing up ( literally ) a massive problem. Generations to come will be lumbered with the waste. To store it in water and concrete is very shortsighted, as this will only have a certain life span. We should harness natural sources until such time that we have the knowledge to deal with such a vast problem. This island is not very large and the potential for things to go wrong is huge, not withstanding the greater risk of terrorism.

British firms did not want to build nuclear power because of the (financial risk). Centrica was the latest to pull out I believe, but British firms will be involved in the construction.

I've registered as definitely do not want this.
Have any of you considered Photovoltaic Panels? They are clean, quiet and very effective. A lot of farmers are installing these in fields and can still graze the land.....in my opinion this is the way to go!
