Bordon short listed Eco-town. No2
- Sue W (5th Sep 2008 - 10:14:17)

Thought I would start a new chapter, as the other one was quite long!.

Having just read the Bordon Times & Mail, thought I would post parts here incase others have no access to the paper.

'New plan will double homes'.

'Whitehill and Bordon could see 5,500 new homes built, whether it becomes an eco-town or not.'

Its seems that the draft plan by South East england Regional Assembly, who initially stated that it was suitable for 2,500 homes, has now doubled that figure which would seem that now matter what an extensive build will happed.

What was also interesting is that there are '22 other towns in the region - who have been identified by a government panel as a focus area for housing, economic growth and transport investment'.

Hilary Benn, has the final decision on whether the draft plan is accepted or not. Public consultation will end October 24.

It would seem that the choice is now 5,500 homes built with extra funding from government to create an eco-town, or one built without?

It's the eco-town status that (may) make the idea of 5500 houses more pallatable considering the infrastructure and local job availability improvements.
5500 houses without the associated infrastructure changes is totally inacceptable.
