Development Proposal
- Nick Hancock (10th Sep 2013 - 21:51:31)

Has anyone else had a flyer through their door today about a consultation exercise for development of land "To the West of Liphook"? The A4 photocopied sheet that I read talks about a proposal to allocat a further 175 houses to Liphook in modifications to the Joint Core Strategy and a new access road "to the rear of Bohunt School" and for the proposed development - without actually saying what development is proposed. It goes on to say that the access road could also link Longmoor Road to Portsmouth Road / Station Road if desired.

This sounds like a revival of an old proposal to link Station Road with Longmoor Road and then infill the land inside the new road with housing. The proposed Bohunt Manor development is just the start!

Bypassing the Square must be a good idea, but any bypass would need to link in to Haslemere Road / Headley Road, as most of the traffic through the Square comes to or from one of those two.

There is an exhibition at the Deer's Hut next Tues 17th 3:30-7:30. I'm going to go along if I can.

Thanks for posting this Nick. I have now also seen this flyer and I would urge everyone to get along to the exhibition next week so that we can see exactly what it is this developer is talking about.

This one really worries me on top of potential Bohunt Manor development....we could lose a whole raft of green space in the village, and no doubt any new road would lead to infill of houses along its length.

Is there a planning application on the EHDC site for this?

EHDC have already advised that their quota of housing for this Liphook is fulfilled with existing land provision.

Which building company is behind this?

Given that the letter starts by saying "acting for my client" but fails to name them, I assume it has to be taken with a huge degree of caution.

The omission of the clients details is obviously a considered position - the client clearly does not wish to be identified.

That alone raises great doubts about the whole thing in my mind.

Treat with caution. Probably creeping development is my personal view.

They say it's part of a preliminary consultation so I suspect no application yet. They also say there are proposed changes to the "Joint Core Strategy" which would result in an increased allocation in Liphook.

I think this is development in the griggs green area up behind the deers hut and a road leading through to bohunt school. Im not sure of the exact details though so would be worth attending the exhibition at the deers hut on tuesday to find out More.
