What sort of times are available and what parts of liphook?

A sign of the times ... Potential applicants interviewing the employer!

I think it is only a fair question. After all the applicant may not have a car to travel around in? The delivery areas could be in Passfield for example and if the applicant lives in Rogate without a car it is a good question to ask?

Ceris, Hannah's comment is the absoulte opposite of 'the times'. There are far fewer jobs than workers, and Hannah was asking a reasonable question. I suggest if you have nothing productive to add, don't add anything at all!

Best of luck to everyone applying.

I'm with Ceris. I'm an employer, always looking for decent staff and the majority of applicants are always trying to work out hiw to do the least possible and keep benefits such has housing benefits against working. Sadly I have found most people come for an interview and make themselves completely unsuitable - e.g. Not available when needed, medical conditions. List is endless, they are looking to tick a box at the job centre to confirm they have applied for jobs and can therefore keep job seekers benefit.

If Hannah really wanted that job she'd call into the shop or at least ring them.

I'm with John on this, if Hannah was interested in the position she could call or e mail the shop with any questions she has.

Crikey!

Hannah asked a simple question - no point wasting anyone's time going for interview or sending full application if she is unable to commit to what they're offering - most jobs come with a full and detailed description these days so when a brief job advert like this is posted I think it is reasonable for potential applicants to essentially 'screen' themselves and know whether they'll be able to commit to what's on offer before taking the application any further.....

I must admit I've always found it very strange that when someone advertises a job on this site and gives full contact details, some applicants think the onus is on the potential employer to contact them!!

If I were the potential employer, I would immediately rule out anybody showing so little initiative...

Thank you for all the interest and enthusiasm we have received in response to this advert. We are currently working through a long list of applicants. It is great to hear from so many local people interested in work. We will be responding to all enquiries and applicants in due course.

I think we are getting a bit above what is really on offer here. It sounds to me like a marketing drive consisting of one off leafleting not a career in the wine business, the "employer" is using this site rather than pay for an advert, and should really have offered more details eg whether it is paid per hour or per amount of leaflets delivered. These days the minimum wage of £5.90 per hour would not even cover the cost of petrol to use your own car to deliver the leaflets. I would not expect that someone delivering a few part time leaflets would be able to retire to the south of france on the company pension! get real!

Re the post above, have you heard of walking? Why not put a advert on this site? I thought that was what a site like this is for? Or is it only for back stabbing?

I am delighted to hear that The General Wine Company will be responding to all applicants.

My son has made numerous enquiries regarding part time work in the local area since finishing his GCSEs and everyone replied save for our very own, local, Old Thorns, who failed to respond to two separate email enquiries and refused to take in a CV hand delivered to them.

How long does it take to send a standard "thanks but no thanks" email reply? They have certainly gone down in my estimation.
