Moles???
- Barbara (3rd Aug 2008 - 20:50:43)

Has anyone else noticed funny little 'mole hills' appearing in their garden?

I'm saying they're mole hills, but to be honest I'm not sure - I always thought that moles, once they'd surfaced, would then manage to ruin a lawn in a matter of hours/days, yet we have had maybe 6 hills over a period of about 8 - 10 weeks, all localised.

Just wondered if anyone else was having similar problems, or could advise what to do?? I don't really want to start 'hammering' them (metaphorically speaking) if they're likely to go away of their own accord.

Thank you!!

Hi Barbara,
They are moles, and they don't go away. They are not cuddly, friendly or will enhance your life in any way. Once they get established and start breeding, a couple produce prodigeous numbers of offspring. The good news is that mum and dad mole are so territorial that once the youngsters are weaned from mum, if they do not move on to pastures new, mum and dad will kill 'em and have them for their next meal! That's what I meant about them not being cuddly.

The remedy, of course, is to call in the professionals and leave the gory stuff to them. Phone Tim @ Pestbusters in Milland and your problem will be no more..........until another pair, who haven't heard of Tim, decide to move in!!!

Also,
Dont let your dog get excited about the moles.
a friend of mine had almost her entire garden dug up by her collie who was looking for moles!

The dog never caught a mole either!
