** lost iphone 5 **
- Nicki (10th Aug 2013 - 13:25:03)
At 11.09 at Liphook train station my teenage daughter lost her brand new iphone 5.
She watched as the 2 teenagers who had just got off of the train picked up the phone and walked off.
Unfortunately, as yet the phone has not been handed in to the police or the railway station.
It is a white iphone 5 in a pink Juicy Couture case.
The incident has been reported to the police (who are viewing the cctv at the station) and Apple (who have locked the phone plus instigated 'find my iphone').
A £50 reward is offered for the safe return of the phone. Any other help would also be appreciated. (Please respond to thread)
Many Thanks

This isn't theft! The police won't take any action being offing advice on careful ownership.
You admitted your daughter 'lost' the phone and that the two teenagers 'found' it!
It's easy enough to have the phone unlocked.
Maybe treat it as a lesson, don't trust a kid with a £600 phone!!

Thanks Tim. I would love to say your comments were helpful, but sadly not. Im confused as to why you bothered contributing at all.
At no point did I say that the Phone was stolen, (although in some cases there can be charges of "theft by finding"). Both the Police and The Transport Police have been very helpful and supportive.
It is also quite patronising of you to label all teenagers as "kids". How they spend their own hard earned cash is up to them.
One thing is clear, if anyone leaves a phone lying around and Tim is about, you wont be seeing it again!

The fact you stated hat police were looking at the CCTV! Have the police actually looked at the CCTV though! In my 20+ years in the security industry, its very rare the police will go to those lengths for a 'lost' phone. Hence my statement about they'll offer advice and little else!
Lost personal possessions are not the responsibility of the police!

Lets hope Tim is not actually a policeman!

Not Police, but I've worked along side them for long enough to know how the system works. Hampshire Constabulary is incredibly stretched, resources wise. They will neither have the time, nor inclination to investigate this. It will be put down as NFA - no further action!
Claim on the insurance and move on. Don't waste Hampshire polices or SWT time!

Just wondered how big a crime has to be before reporting it to the police so as not to waste their time.

A crime is a crime and should always be reported! The instance the OP is referring to is not a crime! Her daughter lost her phone. End off!
