A3 signs to Haslemere

I have never been able to understand why traffic going north to Haslemere is not signed via Hindhead down the hill direct to Haslemere. Haslemere via Liphook and its mini roundabouts and narrow lanes seems sheer madness for large vehicles.

Agree, quite ridiculous.
This has been raised with Ferris Cowper who is talking to Highways about it.
Going through Liphook to Haslemere means that lorries have to negotiate low bridges which they would avoid completely if they went via Hindhead.
