GITG '08
- Ben Lawrance (27th Jun 2008 - 19:24:33)

Not long now till this years Gig In The Garden.

Just to give everyone a quick update, GITG '08 is being held in the garden of The Royal Anchor on Saturday 9th August, starting with the first band at 5pm.

The line up of bands will be published on the website within the next week or so.

As always, outdoor stage, beer tent (new and improved beer tent aswell!), BBQ, raising money for Charity (Macmillan and Liphook Carnival), and lots of fun to be had.

If you have no idea what i am on about, then get on over to www.gitg.org, and look at the videos and photos of last year.

No tickets needed, just turn up. Thats right, IT'S FREE!!

If anyone has any questions they would like to ask about GITG, you can e-mail me on info@gitg.org.

Don't forget the website, and don't forget to visit our sponsors, because without them, we wouldn't have GITG.

Cheers
Ben

Hi All,

The line up has now been published and we are full steam ahead for what hopes to be the best GITG to date.

I hope you can all attend (if not, i'm sure you'll still hear it) and support the Charities (Macmillan and The Carnival)

Don't forget to look at the website www.gitg.org.

Cheers
Ben

looking forward to it as always .......I personally would like to hear more cover versions being done but then i'm just an 'oldie' who like to sing along!!!

On a more serious note , i did notice last year that the security officers were not displaying SIA licences, this is something that should be addressed this year. The event organiser should check all guards are licenced (door supervisor level as it is licenced premises). Don't take any bull about licences being applied for!

I also never saw the Macmillan collection buckets last year, maybe you need to be a little more prominent with the collecting to give us all chance to give.

Thanks to all who put this on for the village. I would love to see a mini 'festival' on the rec too - if ever you consider doing it i'll be your first volunteer to assist.

Well, what can i say..........................

The rain certainly didn't stop play.

Thankyou to all those who braved the "Great British Summer" and showed you support for GITG '08.

Date for your diary: Sat Aug 8th 2009.

well done to Ben & team for making this year's GITG a great success (the torrential rain gave it shades of Glastonbury lol). I LOVED the bands this year plenty of covers which is always a relief !!

The bar staff were pushed to the limit and still managed to keep smiles on their faces.Maybe next year a 'fast track pint of lager queue would help ease congestion. I have seen it done at other events, if all you are wishing to purchase is pints of lager they have a designated queue with pints being continuously pulled (Fozzies pls !!!) Leaving other barstaff free to deal with spritzers n fizzy blue drinks :)

This year's security team were brilliant ( and all displaying SIA licences) and the quick response of their first aider was very much appreciated when an over zealous dancer managed to introduce a new martial art of 'umbrella combat!' .

Ben would there be any chance of posting the amount raised for Macmillan/carnival ?? Again I did not see any collection buckets :( Maybe the collection buckets should be replaced by a £1 door raffle for a prize of drinks vouchers or a meal at the pub on another night perhaps ?
