Latest news - Bohunt Manor SDNP response to primary school - Jane Ives (24th Jul 2013 - 21:04:04) SDNP have today published on their website a response to the pre-planning application for a single form entry primary school on Bohunt Manor land. The document is quite lengthy and I have therefore included a link to it at the end of this post. It basically says that this is a major development proposal, does not meet any of the SDNP policies, is outside Liphook’s settlement boundary and they would ‘not look favourably’ on any such proposal. The conclusion of the report states: The proposal would be major development in the SDNP, as such clear and compelling justification would be required for the principle of development to be acceptable. The development would result in an intrusive form of new development in the countryside within the South Downs National Park. In addition the development, by reason of its size and scale, together with the layout of the site, would result in a development out of keeping with its rural surroundings, which would not conserve or enhance the natural beauty of this area. As such this proposal would not receive officer support if an application were to be submitted. This is good news, but bear in mind this only relates to the primary school and not to any other development on the site. But it does indicate that this is a fight worth having!
