Fun Day
- Jill Howie (22nd Jun 2008 - 17:58:09)
Karen
What an amazing day - you clever girl - you did it and I don't think you will get away with it not happening again next year!!!
You can sleep well at night now, spend some time with your two delightful little boys (and Kevin of course!)
The Fun Day seemed to bring everybody in the Village out for the day and they all throughly enjoyed it.
Well done and it was just great being part of it with you.
Much love
"Your Fun Day Little Helpers"!!

Thank you for a great day , and for letting me put my stand inside after my wayward gazebo had its temper tantrum.
I look forward to next year.

I agree - what a fantastic day!
There was a great atmosphere, with a wide variety of stalls and all the vibrant and entertaining displays in the central arena. It was really well attended by the local community and everyone I spoke to had a great time. As an event, I thought it rivalled the many rural fairs in the surrounding area and I hope it was as successful as it was enjoyable. Will it be a regular event on the Liphook calendar? I hope so.
Well done Karen and the committee

What a fantastic day, well attended, good weather and a credit to all involved. It's just what the village green was made for and what Liphook has been missing for years. Keep it up and lets hope for a repeat year after year.
Best wishes
Barry

I would just like to say my kids had a fab day. My 4 yr old was over the moon at sitting in the fire engine. He didnt stop talking about it for the rest of the day and he said he will drive one when he is bigger!!!
Thank you to all involved in making the day the success that it was. I'm sure i speak on behalf of the people of Liphook that we appreciate all your hard work.
WELL DONE!

So glad that everyone enjoyed Sunday, we couldn't have done it without a large number of people and I would like to express enormous thanks to the following:
First of all I would like to thank Ben Lawrence for his time and committment to the Fun Day. Ben and I were down at the Green on Sunday morning from 7am and Ben worked so hard to get the PA system etc up and running. Enormous thanks to you Ben!
The Links - supplied ALL of the BBQ food free of charge (and what excellent food it was too) and two members of staff to help serve - and of course thanks to those lovely Fat Boys aswell for their time and never-ending enthusiasm! The Links also supplied a large majority of the alcohol free of charge. So please go and support them on their Fun Day on 19th July!
PRC - designed and printed the posters and programmes free of charge.
Cornish Seaview Cottages - for donating the wonderful first prize for our raffle. Go to www.cornishseaviewcottages.co.uk for more information on their fabulous portfolio of Cornish Cottages.
A3 Sports - for producing our Fun Day T-Shirts free of charge and for giving us all the Family Games.
Owens Cycles in Petersfield - for the fabulous raffle prize.
Anchor Garage - for financing and running the Bottle Tombola.
Altis Tools - who provided us with the fencing for the green and sent along the digger and John the driver (!) for the digger game. Thanks to you guys.
The lovely Andy House - who went and collected the straw for us from a local farm on Saturday and then returned it on Sunday afternoon.
The Scouts - who came along at 8am on Sunday morning and spent several hours putting up marquees for us. Thank you.
Gable News kindly donated several boxes of sweets for our sweet stall.
Gerald Whittaker produced and helped finance our lovely big red signs around the village - which looked fab!
Ghurka Nepalese for their raffle prize.
Liphook Football Club - for coming along and running the Penalty Shoot out.
Koosa Kids for coming along and donating their time to running the Target Game for us.
And not forgetting Sainsburys for their £10 donation.
Thanks to anyone that I may have forgotten and see you next year for more Fun!

'And not forgetting Sainsbury's for their £10 donation.'
It'll be hard not to...Perhaps they deducted something for all that free parking...Did they give some Active Kids Vouchers and Nectar points too?

Karen,
Have been hoping to bump into you since Sunday, but just caught a fleeting glance as you smiled past me in the car this afternoon - not an ideal time to shout at you what a FANTASTIC time we all had on Sunday.
Who ordered that weather?? And what a wonderfully relaxing, entertaining time we all had - the little ones were so excited, and the teeniest (20 months old) refused point-blank to sit and eat her lunch cos she was too busy dancing to the band!
Even hubby keeps banging on about what a lovely atmosphere there was, and how much he enjoyed it.
So....THANK YOU! From the Campbell Clan xx

Unfortunately I wasn't in Liphook at the weekend so couldn't come along enjoy the fun but I've been hearing lots of positive things about Sunday so well done!
But....I actually wondered whether you'd made a typo when you said that Sainsburys donated £10...did you mean ten whole pounds??!!

Jane, it was not a typo, it was £10. But in Sainsbury's defence, I did speak to the Manager and one of her colleagues who were very nice, and they did explain that the stores 'hands are tied' when it comes to local donations. They only have a limited amount of funds per year which they have to distribute to all the many requests they receive.
It does seem a pity that we can't get more money from such a large company for such a high profile event within the village, as it would help with their PR in Liphook, but I have discussed other ways in which we can use the store to help raise Carnival funds, and we will continue to develop these.
Thanks to everyone for their comments about last Sunday, it was good wasn't it!!

I’m glad Sainsbury’s went to town with their generosity. Though I would be a little concerned if I was Sainsbury’s finance director - the store’s profits are really going to be dented if they continue that extreme generosity.
Thanks for such a great day, well organised and promoted, lets hope a lot more than £10.00 was raised for the good cause!

To Karen and the Carnival Crew,
Just a quick post to say thanks for such a superb event and thanks for having Aimée come and play in your events tent.
Here's looking forward to next years' event being even bigger and better ...which is going to be quite an act to follow!....best start planning now :-)
