Bullying
- Clare (19th Jul 2013 - 22:51:49)

Having had children in both schools here in liphook I wondered if any other parents have had a child suffer bullying at either school?

Are we talking junior, infant or bohunt

I have 4 children that have attended all 3 schools here. Child 1 had no issues at all in any of the schools, child 2 was bullied at bohunt but that was very quickly dealt with. Child 3 had no issues at infants and juniors and is now on his way to bohunt. Child 4 has been bullied for the past 3yrs at the infants and juniors, no matter how many phone calls I make or how many bruises my child receives the school insists that there is no problem. Why is it that schools don't like to admit they have problems with bullying? I have a friend who's children attend schools outside of liphook, her son has been beaten inside and outside of school, she's called the school and they say it's an isolated incident.

I have had children go through all three schools in the village and I can only applaud and speak highly of them. All staff have listened, been approachable and acted quickly on any concerns that I have ever had (illness issues). Never seen or heard of any such bullying incidents. Good, reputable schools which I can only highly recommend.

I have encountered bullying at all three schools, found it necessary to change schools as not enough done to stop it happening, Rake school is brilliant and I would say if you can send your child there it is a much better school on all counts for infants and junior school age

I have to respond to this on behalf of the Junior and Infant schools as I feel May's experiences are probably pre Ms Frost.

As a teacher I know that bullying has a huge impact on both a child’s life and an adults but I also know that there are two sides to every incident and it's not always as black and white as parents often seem to think. All schools HAVE to take action on bullying as no one wants any bullying going on in their school, negative rumours and attitudes are hugely damaging to the education of those involved. All schools that I have worked in or have experiences with have a major focus on stopping bullying. Education is the key to understanding and tolerance but you can't always get it right as there is no magic formula and each incident will have its own trigger and solution.

Personally I cannot sing the praises of the Infant and Primary school high enough, the experiences they have offered both of my boys have been huge and cover a wide range. The staff are all approachable and have always been supportive with any problems I or my children have had. Teachers would always rather you went to them with any problems and work as a team to tackle problems like bullying.

If you have worries about bullying I suggest you go in and ask the head teacher of a school about their policies on bullying. If you have already decided to move your child then make sure a new head teacher and teacher is aware of your past experience. Their and your mind reading skills are not always at the level we would all like.
