Train Attack
- Sue W (6th Jun 2008 - 09:06:58)
What grim reading on the front of Herald - two young people attacked on a train from our area.
Now, I am not shocked, it has happened in other areas so Liphook can't avoid it either, and secondly I knew about this the day after and there but for the Grace of God would have been my son!!
Darren, has been a school chum and now a work mate of my youngest and has played a few 'slots' in Guildford before, but that day was to be his first proper heading and Adam (my son), wanted to support him. But being a Chelsea fan was torn, and decided to go to Guildford, watch the game on a pub screen and support his mate. On the night, he thought that Guildford would not be the best place to be and stayed at home.
When he revealed the incident to me I was so thankful that he made a good choice, but IF he had of been there could it have been worse? The 'others' were friends of the 'Chelsea Two' and I know my son would have been compelled to help his mates - a riot would have erupted. The Guard was useless and as a result I believe the pair are pursuing the rail network, as nothing was done to help them at the time. CCTV supports them and I hope they get satisfaction.
