Any truth in the story going about that the HSBC Branch in Liphook is closing in September?

Sadly yes. I was in the branch yesterday and there is a notice saying they will be closing on 20 Sept. How stupid is this? I'm about to write a letter saying how disappointing this is etc etc.

Trouble is, they think everyone has access to a car or the internet.

I've mentioned that in my letter. It might be an idea if more people wrote expressing their disappointment and inconvenience this closure will cause. I sent my letter to Ryan Posgate, Manager, HSBC, 19 High Street, Haselmere, GU27 2HG. It's worth the effort.

A little while ago it was mentioned that the Co-op would be providing certain HSBC bank facilities. Not sure if that included being able to make deposits and withdrawals or HSBC ATM facilities. No doubt the HSBC ATM will be removed when the bank closes.
If the Co-op are to provide the facilities lost when the bank closes, then it will not be too bad.
However, the loss of yet another business in Liphook, especialy a bank, is not good news at all. In fact the closure of the bank will simply underline the lack of confidence the business community has in the regeneration of meaningful growth in Liphook and will hasten the advent of more boarded up shops.

Sadly I think the closure of the HSBC Liphook branch has been a long time coming. Especially in light of the fact that it is barely open in the week now. It will be a real shame to see it go, as the staff are very friendly and it will be a real inconvenience to go to Haslemere or Petersfield. I doubt anything will fill the bank soon especially in light of the current economic climate, and the fact that the building has a lot of history attached to it.

As always it is a case of use it or lose it, same applies to all businesses in the local area.
I am a HSBC a/c holder but find the Liphook one hardly open and the parking atrocious so what do you expect them to do.
I go to Bordon as they have plenty of parking and it is open every day of the week.
