Bramshott & Liphook Parish Survey 2008
- Paul Robinson (23rd May 2008 - 08:49:18)
Having just completed the Bramshott & Liphook Parish Survey 2008, and I urge others to do likewise, whatever you think of the Parish Council, this is your chance to have your say, I would like to make the following observations.
In question 11.2 we are asked our opinions on the condition of plant beds and verges. In my opinion to lump these two together shows a lack of understanding and appreciation of the work of Liphook in Bloom.
Whilst the flower beds are annually spectacular and a credit to the team of volunteers who plant and maintain them, the verges are a disgrace, being for the most part overgrown and weed strewn and clogged with litter. On the rare occasions that they are cut back the mown grass is invariably left all over the pavements.

Paul,
Did you have to collect your survey, or did it come through the door - I notice the recent transport survey had a fairly patchy delivery in Hewshott?

you should have received it by post - so if you haven\'t got one there may have been a problem in your area?
We got ours and posted it back yesterday.
I must say, I agree with the issue about the grass verges - this should have been separated out - and also a number of the questions were a bit vague.
As a Passfield resident I have filled it out based on what I experience here, where I am, not in Liphook where I am not! As it should cover the whole Parish not just ask for views about Liphook itself.
It is important that we all send these in. We do not get very many chances for our views to be taken account of - it is no good moaning that something didn\'t go the way you wanted if you fail to fill it in.
I note that it is supposed to be anonymous but they include a competition entry slip, upon which you have to put your details - and include it in the evelope!! DOH!

Niall you should have recieved your Parish survey in the post- this was delivered by the post office, The transport survey was hand delivered in some areas by the chairman of the Parish Council, or else the envelope adressed and posted out by the assistant parish clerk. If you need any copies of either I can obtain it for you.

Dawn thanks for completing parish survey, this is intended to mean all parts of the village not just the centre of Liphook. We had to condense the questions to fit a certain amount of pages, that is why the questions had to be condensed that way, and giving your name and adress is only in order to claim the prize if you win! It is not obligatory! I agree about the verges though, and these are looked after by EHDC I believe and in the latest partners magazine, which I do not have to hand sorry, there is a new LItter hotspot line which one can ring to complain about the awful state of the verges, having them free of rubbish would help! I believe they have recently instituted this at ehdc and if enough of us in Liphook complain about the state of the verges perhaps it will be attended to. I agree Liphook in Bloom do a fantastic job unpaid!

Are these surveys only for domectic homes. There are a few business premisses, within Liphook that did not receive them?

you can obtain a copy to complete if you did not recieve one at your home address. Most of the questions relate to an individusls viewpoint, eg how do you travel to work, what sort of accommodation do you have? a lot of the questions are personal, and the addresses to send the survey to were taken from the electoral register, but there is nothing to stop you filling one out and returning it, The parish office has spare copies or I could drop one in to your shop.

Hi
I would encourage everyone to fill the survey out and make their opinions known. I think that one of the most important things from this survey will be that consideration can be given to the future needs of Liphook. This should not be just in terms of housing but should also include things like leisure facilities (an entertainment complex would really fit quite well on the old OSU site if no other suitable plans are submitted) , capacity of doctor’s surgeries, local shops and business’s for employment, adequate car parking for shoppers and schools etc and, arguably one of the most important, relevant and meaningful facilities for the youth of the village.
So, please put some thought to these issues when completing the survey and make sure the parish council are aware. I know that many of the councillors are really keen to make this work and I was fully behind this when it was first planned a little while ago.
All that the public needs be assured of is that the results of the survey will be taken seriously and not just allowed to gather dust on a pile in the corner of the parish office.
This is a very good initiative by the PC, let’s hope that feedback is kept up and on a regular basis and that any future plans will take into account the views of residents.
Regards
Barry
