Daffodils departed
- Allan at The Black Fox Inn (23rd Apr 2008 - 18:13:17)
On Sat. 19th April, in dead of night, we had a large quantity of daffodils removed from outside by what, I'm assuming, is an individual not keen on paying Sainsbury's prices. Now the daffs were past their upright best and I'm not too upset about their loss, but, they went in 3 large crocks which I am upset about.
Anyone else get "visited" on Sat?

I am so sorry to hear that.
The display you have is always eyecatching (perhaps that is your downfall!!)
Why can't people leave other peoples things alone??!!

There was a lot of this a few years ago wasn’t there..
Garden chairs and ornaments of all shapes and sizes being stolen for the ‘car boot’ season!
It makes you lose faith in human kind

Hi Dawn,
You are correct, and we were targetted by the low life then as well. Interesting that East Hants police said that they knew the identity of the perpetrators but that a prosecution would have to be brought by W. Sussex police as all reported thieving was done on their patch, and they refused to for whatever reason (budgetary ?).
So, an immunity of sorts was established then and probably still exists.

Allan
I shall re-phrase that....... It makes you lose faith in 'Police' kind!
What a disgraceful policy to be enforcing. How dare they treat innocent victims of crime in this way - what on earth do we pay our taxes for.
If you are reading this Mr Arbuthnot, would you kindly tell me how criminals are allowed to escape justice by crossing the county border!
This is the UK not the USA

The more I think about this the more it grates.
Quote..."East Hants police said that they knew the identity of the perpetrators but that a prosecution would have to be brought by W. Sussex police"
Is there anywhere we can report this sort of response? Is there a police forum like the highways (etc) forums run by the parish council?
This is the start of the summer 'car boot' season so I can only imagine that this is going to be on the increase.

Yes, there is a Police Forum, chaired by Councillor Wilson.
You can write to him at the Parish Office.
Hope this helps.

Problem is Dawn, every government agency is constrained by budgetary considerations.
I do not blame the Police, the NHS or any other Govt. responsible dept. for staying within their remit What I have a problem with is that the incumbent gov. is so cash rich through revenues from oil duty that they could, if they wanted, fund almost any pet project they wanted.
Crime; boring and hard to deal with to show short term results.( Leave til later)
Family problems; not their problem (see above)
Unemployment; your'e havin' a laugh, we gave evryone jobs in the civil service. (o.k.so taxes have to pay for that) but who, apart from the poor and disadvantaged suffer? No brainer.
Dawn, I'm not a cynical person by nature, but by Jesus Christ I hope that my children will be.

25th April 16.30 London Road outside Radford park female in late teens early twenties picking what was left of the daffodils planted at roadside, probably related to males seen fishing in both the lake and the river the following day (close season for rivers), food must be scarce to eat as fish seen in bags ready to take away.
What next? I think I'll hide my rabbit!!.
