Gibbet Hill 10k Run 10 July 2013 - matt (23rd May 2013 - 21:26:45)
The annual Gibbet Hill 10K race is back for it’s 25th running on 10th July. It is a multi terrain run through an area of outstanding natural beauty adjacent to the Devils punchbowl. The race gets its name from the grizzly murder of a sailor walking from London to Portsmouth many years ago to join his ship. The two men responsible were caught and hanged at the highpoint on the route of the course.
The 25th running of the race will start at 7.30pm on St. Christopher’s Green and finish on Lion Green at Wey Hill. The race is well marshalled and suitable for everyone from serious runners and to those who will complete the challenge at their own pace. Prizes are awarded at the end in various categories followed by a drink if you are so inclined at The Apple Tree, Haslemere (suitably close to the finish line).
A number of Liphook residents shall compete or be marshalling on the night and it would be great to see as many people there as possible as it really is a very friendly club.
