push bike accident
- wendy (1st May 2013 - 22:03:28)

I was just wondering if the Bohunt pupil (male) that fell off his bike today at about 5.15pm, along the Haslemere road was ok. I'm not sure if he was hit by the car coming out of the drive way or just taken by surprise, but he hit the ground hard.
Having seen this incident, and being a mum myself, I'd urge everyone to use caution when exiting their drive way.

We really need a cycle lane there. It's mainly wide enough and with the amount of families who live up that way, you take your life in your hands cycling on that stretch of road.
Could the local councillors get onto this if they're not too busy bickering?

I live on one of the side roads, and use an alternate route via the Canadian Estate. Far safer, and far more pleasant than conflicting with cars on a busy road (For the record I am an adult). I use the same route with my daughter. perhaps parents should encourage safer routes away from cars as well. I know we shouldn't have to, but the sad reality is too many people do not see bicycles (or motorcycles or trucks for that matter) when pulling out.
