School Governor needed
- Nick Hancock (3rd Mar 2008 - 21:23:02)

Liphook C of E Junior School needs a new volunteer Community Governor to join its governing body. One of our existing Community Governors is retiring after eight years in the role.

We're looking for someone to provide a perspective drawn from experience outside the school environment. This is a rewarding and fulfilling role. It offers a strong sense of team work and a real opportunity to make a difference. This is a particularly exciting time to be a governor at Liphook Junior School as since September we have had a new head teacher, Clare Williams, who is full of ideas for the school. This is an opportunity to be involved in turning her plans into a reality.

Most importantly you need an interest in education and in particular the future of the village Junior School. Business experience – eg. handling budgets, or personnel matters relevant for staff recruitment – or alternatively experience working in education could be useful too but is not essential. Most of all what we need is an interest in and enthusiasm for the progress of young people, and time to commit to meetings and a training programme provided by Hampshire Local Education Authority.

The full governing body meets on one or two evenings a term. In most terms governors also attend two late afternoon committee meetings. Governors also make occasional daytime visits to the school. This is an opportunity to remind ourselves of the real reason for being a governor and can be hugely enjoyable.

If you are interested in pursuing this opportunity, please contact me on via the school on 01428 722490 or email: nick.hancock@liphook-jun.hants.sch.uk or write to Liphook C of E Junior School, Avenue Close, Liphook, Hampshire GU30 7QE stating why you feel you would suit the role. There is more information on the Hampshire web-site on: www3.hants.gov.uk/education/...
