Old Thorns
- liz (29th Feb 2008 - 14:17:14)

I was quite horrified to see (on the EHDC website) Old Thorns planned changes to their entrance. What is not clear from the plans is how totally out of keeping it will be for the access to the Deers Hut. Perhaps I'm just an old stock in the mud.

Busy body is the word i think... why do these things bother you... I think the new sign, which had all the appropriate permissions is very informative... before passers by hardly new there was a beautiful hotel with grand facilities and super restaurang at the end of the drive.. most passers by are put off by the dreadful pub at the end of the drive... whereas old thorns is really worth a visit... hence the sign is neccesary...
Instead of opposing every kind of change that goes on, why dont you try to see some good for a change... and be more positive about local developments!!!!

Sorry mis read your post..it was about the access not the sign...
How can improving the access be detremental to the Deers hut???? Surely if the pub had any sence they would be glad of the extra passing business that Old Thorns is brining them... that is if they were clever about it all...
Also from what i see of the deers hut.... they need to improve their parking facilities if they intend to hold events like Motor bike rallys... They seem to use their car park to hold the event (which is totally inadequate) Then they seem to direct their customers to park on the driveway to old thorns which only has rights to pass and no rights for anyone to park... and then they direct the overflow of people attending the rally to park in Old Thorns actual car park - how cheeky is that!!!!

Then there are people like you oposing any widening or improvement of the access road, when the deers hut customers actually park illegally, blocking the road, which in the event of emergency services being called would be a huge problem... not just to the hotel, but to any residents living around old thorns that use the same access road.

Personally i dont think the deers hut should be allowed to hold such rallys as they clearly do not have adequate facilities to do so!!!!
