Nigel Newman's Gypsy Status
- Mr Toshie (27th Apr 2013 - 18:25:16)
I understand from my EHDC sources that ex Parish Council chairman, Nigel Newman has applied for Gypsy rights to retain a 3 bed mobile home he has illegally built in his rear garden on the Old Logmoor Road.
Little buggers these ex councillors’. Whatever were they like when in office?

Don't get me started on this one !!!!
Councillors playing lip service, until it affects them.

I have no idea at all about Mr Newman's gypsy status and can't comment on that...but I do remember when he was in office he had some very loyal female supporters!!
If memory serves me right, their names were Liz, Lily and Kat..ie ...now there's a surprise ;)

This is my assumption, not fact, though I do know that his wife is arguably from traveller background. When one marries, it then makes the non(gorja) a traveller. So traveller connections would naturally apply. I dont see anything wrong here at all, it is like a muslim converting to christianity. Hopefully you understand now?

Eneida,
Your memory serves you wrong where Liz and Kat are concerned, I think you will find it was myself and May.
What does my personal opinion have to do with Mr Newmans application? I am not on the council, I have no influence at all. So what is your point exactly???

No Lily , and neither do the councillors have any influence on these matters, hence "paying lip service" but I think we all know that by now!

I recall there was a previous posting regarding Mr Newman who apparently demolished his colonial bungalow and rebuilt it without permission or building control involvement.
Now it appears he has built yet another house/unit by the same devious means in his garden-no permission or building control.
This is surely the mark of a man who liked to set the rules as Chairman of B&LPC for all but takes no part in the planning process for himself.
Perhaps the revelations about the Newman, Tough, Austen Olsen, The disgraced ex Parish Clerk Groves & not forgetting Anna James gang were true? Good riddance to the lot of them. The new Council appear to be doing a sterling job!

Eddie,
I think many would beg to differ that they are doing a 'sterling' job! I have nothing to say about that, but I will say that a planning application has no bearing on whether the applicant is an ex councilor! Or how bad/good they were in office.

Lily,

Let's hope that is the case.

Eneida,
Sorry but not me. Seems you are mistaken or maybe you wanted to create some kind of false connection between myself, Kat and ex councillor Newman.
I can't speak for Kat but I have never met councillor Newman and can't understand why you would want to draw a conclusion that we know each other. I can only assume that you think councillor Newman would be against the new council for some reason and as I have written some posts that whilst not being against the new council do press hard for answers from them regarding the missing £31,000 of taxpayers money that you again assumed we were some how affiliated, but in this instance you have assumed very wrong.
I think it would be wise if next time you throw derogatory accusations around about people you do not know, that you do not make assumptions and gather actual facts before posting on this forum.

Well Liz you're quite right that I have no idea who you are and I'm sorry you think I was being derogatory to suggest you were one of Mr. Newman's past supporters.
However, when posters, for some reason, refuse to post their full names, it's impossible to know who they really are and one can only base one's opinion on past threads like this one...
Nigel Newman something positive
