illuminated lighting into the Square
- Chris (11th Apr 2013 - 15:44:22)

FYI : Lloyds Banking Group has submitted an application for illuminated signage....reference number 26620/021 on EHDC website the village will never look the same again.

These type of signs (if it is the internally lit type) have been rejected in the past in the conservation area. (Lloyds have applied before I think). Let's hope the planners can continue to turn them down.

As for Lloyds - come on guys (and girls) - please don't spoil our Square!! A small sign may be nothing but it would be the thin end of the wedge....

Are they worried that we're all going blind and won't be able to find them?

I believe a similar application may have been submitted in Grayshott - so this is probably a corporate thing rather than the local banks decision.

EHDC did have (and I assume still have) an approach that illuminated signs in a conservation area are carefully controlled.

If you are unhappy with the proposal you should object in writing or on the EHDC website.

I think we should make a public comment on the EHDC site - they may not read this!
Make comments by going to to www.easthants.gov.uk and using the link 'Search and Comment on applications' enter the reference number 26620/022 and then 'Search' then 'Make a public comment.'
BTW, I don't like the brilliant white security light at the back of their building which doesn't go out to midnight and fools the birds into thinking the dawn has come!

I have just posted a comment on the EHDC website and note that I am the first one.
Get posting if you feel strongly since the committee will take few responses into account.

Thanks Paul. I can't make that meeting personally but will try and find a proxy to make my point!

That's annoying - just read this thread and have missed the meeting! Had a proxy all ready to go tomorrow and make my point! What was decided?

Re: illuminated lighting into the Square

The proposal for new illuminated signs on Lloyds Bank in the Square at Liphook was discussed at last night's Bramshott and Liphook Planning Committee and was rejected by unanimous vote.

It was felt that the building was already adequately illuminated by the street lamp to the front of the building and the existing lighting to the ATM point.

It was noted that Ship House is a listed building within the conservation area.

It was felt that the proposed lighting scheme for the front, the side and the rear of the building would adversly affect those residents whose property was adjacent to the bank.

These comments will now be forwarded to E.H.D.C. Planning Department for their consideration.

There were no submissions from the general public. If you wish to register your interest in this item you should contact E.H.D.C. using the method described earlier in this thread.

Thank you Councillor Robinson for the update. I have already registered my objection with the E.H.D.C.

Well, it got approved as presumably an amended submission for non-illuminated signs went unopposed.

Re: Proposal: DISPLAY OF NON-ILLUMINATED SIGNAGE (AS AMENDED BY PLANS RECEIVED 07/05/13)
Site Address: 3 The Square, Liphook, GU30 7AE
Case No: 26620/021

Thank you for your comments which have been taken into account by the Council in reaching a decision on the above proposal.

I can now advise you that the application was given consent.

I don't think anyone would object to a non-illuminated sign. ....But if we could only get rid of those nasty plastic banners outside the anchor...! Perhaps the management should experiment - get rid of them and see if it has any impact on business.
