plug socket in hot zone
- may (11th Apr 2013 - 01:14:37)

I was suppose to have my new gas cooker today (10 APRIL). When the engineer came he said that the plug socket is in the hot zone and he can\'t do the installation because it is against the present regulation. I was told to have the plug socket relocated to a new position before he can do any installation work. Since I have no idea how long I will take to sort out this problem, I just told him to return the new cooker to the manufacturer for a refund.

My house was built in 1979. I know the plug socket is in that position when the house was first built, of cause my neightbours as well. I wonder if anyone in Liphook have ever come across the same issue?

Any advice, suggestion or your own experience? Money is tight. Would you know any good electrician that charged reasonable?

For the time being, I carried on using my old gas cooker of which the oven broke down since January. When will I have pizza?!

Hi

We've recently had a new kitchen and they said the same about our cooker socket and it had to be moved - our house is about 10 years old so perhaps it's a fairly new requirement. Hope you get it sorted soon and can eat!

Hi, this is a very common problem due to various current regulations and ongoing changes ( mainly fire regs)
I run a building and carpentry company based in Liphook and have an electrician who can help.....
Feel free to call me on 07761341816
