First up - UKIP - Derrick Ismay
| | By way of an Introduction-
I have been asked by the Local Branch of the UKIP to stand as their candidate for the Headley Division in the County Council Elections and I was pleased to accept.
As I do not have the resources or man power of some other Candidates I will not be able to meet all of the residents of the Division personally, but I am endeavouring to make contact in every way possible.
I have lived in Liss for 47 years and was in business in Petersfield for 38 years. I am now semi retired but continue my business from Liss. I have, during this time, served as a Urban District and Town Councillor and School Manager. I was appointed a Magistrate and was active in Petersfield, Alton and various locations in East Hampshire for fifteen years on the Commission of the Peace, at Juvenile, Licensing and Petty Sessions. I have also been secretary and treasurer to several charitable organisations so I have a wealth of useful experience in community matters.
I keep up to date with local news and politics and believe in bringing back power to the people, for decisions to be made locally wherever possible, so that common-sense policies can be pursued, making people’s lives easier. If elected, I will assist and help all the residents of the Division to the best of my ability.
Should you wish to contact me my email address is: derrick.ismay@btinternet.com
For supporters and members who can assist in the campaign there is a meeting arranged every Wednesday at 7pm at the Spread Eagle in West Liss.
Many thanks
Derrick Ismay | |

Conservative - current councillor - Ferris Cowper
| | Dear neighbour,
“Listening to your views and putting things right” is my slogan because it’s just what I’ve been doing since you elected me in the by-election in September 2011.
I’ve lived in Grayshott for 36 years, I’ve been their District Councillor since 1999, I was the Leader of East Hampshire District Council for almost four years and I’ve been working flat out as your County Councillor since the by election. So I know my way around this area!!! I know a lot about local government; when I led EHDC I improved services and never once put up Council Tax, so you can see I fit in well at Hampshire County Council.
I attend every other B&L Full Parish Council meeting, attended the Annual Meeting, send a detailed written report to every Full Parish Council Meeting and provide a web newsletter every 2-4 months on bramshottandliphook-pc.gov.uk/newsletters
You’ll see I’ve been able to announce a proposed new ‘bus service to Haslemere that I have secured to help people who can no longer be treated at The Chase Hospital.
In business I was a European Director of the famous Mars corporation for 10 years and when I retired from them at 50 I became Managing Director of a large fitted kitchen company, director of an advertising agency and then Chairman of a large flour milling company; all multi-million pound enterprises.
Now I work just for you and I love it! For relaxation I drive racing cars and high powered Karts and I play rock’n roll with local band Good Times Roll. Maybe you’ve heard me play because we’ve performed in all three parishes!!
Best wishes,
Cllr. Ferris Cowper

- Cllr. Ferris Cowper (4th May 2013 - 14:42:33)
Dear neighbours,
On Thursday, 2nd May I was re-elected as your County Councillor. To those of you who supported me, I thank you for your trust and the privilege of your vote. To those that did not, I promise you can rely on my hard work and dedication to our community, just as I have done since I was first elected in 2011.
A few observations;
I won the highest percentage share of any winning Conservative in East Hampshire and one of the highest in the entire election.
The UKIP vote was pretty much exactly in line with the national average.
Turnout in our division was poor at 29%. Total votes cast were 3717. At the last full county election turnout here was 35%.
I have never encountered Mr. Ismay and sadly he didn’t attend the count, but to Michael and John I would like to extend my commiserations and thank them for a clean, well fought contest.
I will continue to post newsletters and also reports to the parish council website bramshottandliphook-pc.gov.uk/newsletters.
Cllr. Ferris Cowper
Hampshire County Councillor for Grayshott, Headley and Bramshott and Liphook.

Re: HCC elections 2nd May

Once again another election passes where the vast majority of the electorate don't bother voting.
The reason why is obvious. People are so disillusioned with politicians that when the choice is perceived to be idiot 1 idiot 2 or idiot 3 why vote for any of them.
As the saying goes 'don't vote the government gets in'
The only free choice would be if we adopted the system of other European countries and had an extra choice on all ballot papers
Dissatisfied with all candidates (and if this tops the poll, they have to run it again with different candidates, not the bozos who got rejected the first time)

Re: HCC elections 2nd May

Dear Residents,
I wish to thank those of you who voted for me in the recent Hampshire County Council elections. A result of 24+% of the vote is truly remarkable. The Headley Division is currently thought by many to be one of, if not the safest, Conservative Divisions in Hampshire and therefore it would have been a miracle if their candidate had not won.
What those who voted for me have achieved is that in future those in the Division who in the past have taken your vote for granted will have to think again, as it is not such a safe Conservative Division as it was before the election.
On a level playing field with similar facilities etc that the present incumbent enjoyed, I know I could have given him an even better run for his money.
Onwards and Upwards.
Thank you once again for your valued support.
Derrick Ismay

No offence to cllr Ferris Cowper who is popular, but if the conservatives put up a blind, one legged, deaf donkey they would still vote for it.
