I think it's going to be terrific....as long as Dawn French doesn't feature in too many scenes, because I do find her a tiny bit annoying....she always seems to just play herself whatever the role !! Re: Flora Thompson - Freddie Dawkins (14th Jan 2008 - 16:48:13) Totally agree about Dawn French. She's becoming a parody of the character of the characters she plays. Did you see her in Jam and Jerusalem....yuk! Also, did you notice how small the credit was for Flora Thomson? You could be forgiven for not seeing it at all. Pity. Another picky point: the kids were too clean compared to the book - and it was too sunny. Flora grew up in real deprivation. But all in all a great opening and let's hope they keep the standard up. Re: Flora Thompson - Richard Davies (14th Jan 2008 - 20:12:19) do many people know about local street names that are named after placed in the film such as (Candleford) Gate (Lark Rise. etc Does anyone else remember the rest.
