Appointments with the doctor - Patricia Day (28th Mar 2013 - 10:14:49)
Please could anyone who is also experiencing problems with getting an appointment with a doctor at Liphook Village Surgery let me know.
I think the situation has become worse over the last year. Most appointments are at least a week ahead. My latest experience is an appointment offered in just over 2 weeks time! because the doctors are on holiday!

My wife tried to arrange an appointment for our 2 year old son just yesterday and when the Doctor called back she flatly refused to see him and suggested we wait and see if the condition gets worse over the bank holiday weekend. Having recently gone through the out of hours process a few weeks ago we are not best pleased! It is a real shame what is happening as most of the Doctors in the surgery are top rate but their admin systems seem to be falling apart.

Even doctors are entitled to holidays. They cannot legistate for the number of patients who feel thay need or require an appointment.
On Tuesday I called the surgery. Our own doctor was not available but I spoke with Dr Sylvester, He visited my wife at home at the end of morning surgery and made arrangements for her immediate transfer to RSCH where she was admitted and is still there.
EXCELLENT SERVICE FROM ALL CONCERNED.

Having moved back to the village from London not so long ago, the recent experience of trying to get appointments for various familly members has come as a big suprise. Long waits on hold and a lack of available appointments are the norm. London by contrast was a delight!
Its a real shame because, as has been pointed out above, the doctors attached to the surgery are absolutely first rate. The administration of the practice just lets them down.

I don't understand what has gone wrong with their system. Not so long ago I was singing their praises as to how helpful and accommodating they were, now things have changed definately for the worse. Why does the doctor have to phone you back before an appointment can be made. Surely this is not a doctors job. Please return to your old system Liphook surgery. It worked!!

I think you will find it is all due to budgets. Less money in the kitty = les admin staff!

I am very sorry that our patients have been experiencing difficulty getting appointments recently. We are aware of the problems which have had a number of causes. The main issue has been that the partners have had to take their remaining annual leave before April (our year end). It is extremely unfortunate that one partner or another has been on annual leave every week since the last week of January. We appreciate that this has had a huge impact on the availability of appointments and all agree that this must not happen again. Another problem has been that we have had great difficulty in recruiting practice nurses to cover the recent retirement of one of our nurses and the prolonged absence of another. Thank you for the feedback and I am sure I speak for all the partners in expressing our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.
