Hampshire Broadband Contract Signed!
- Jan Rathbone (26th Mar 2013 - 09:26:58)

Well, it may be only me that's very pleased about the news that I've just received by email, but just in case anyone else is also as pleased as me, and, like me, has been pro-active in supporting Hampshire County Council to improve the broadband service for all areas of Hampshire - they have confirmed that they have signed a contract with BT, which means that at least 90% of all premises will be able to access superfast broadband by the end of 2015 in the Hampshire area.

You can read more here:-
Hampshire Broadband Programme

This has to be good news for both business and residential users.

That's great news, but we still need to sign up to the campaign

This is from the Hampshire Broadband Campaign Website and hopefully contains the sign up link!

Broadband availability and registration

Broadband sign up campaign remains vital

We still want as many people as possible to sign up to our campaign . Evidence of high demand will help the programme funding go further, increasing the number of locations we are able to reach with the limited funding available.
* Please note, registering support does not commit anyone to sign up to a new service.

I have registered with all the campaigns I can and Liphook still does not figure on the future rollouts - are we never going to get higher speeds because of our location ? Are we part of the 10% not covered by Hampshire \'s contract with BT ? What else can we do to influence getting superfast broadband to our area ?

I can't help thinking that taxpayers money (including contruibutions from the unlucky 10%) is being flung at BT to do what they fully intended to do anyway.

The bribe should have been used to make the coverage universal.
