Changes in Haslemere car park that may affect Liphook commuters
- Anon (17th Mar 2013 - 11:31:58)
There is a car park in Haslemere, in Wey Hill where (according to Waverley Borough Council) the majority of commuters who park there are from Liphook. The car park is known locally as the Fairground car park.
The council is planning to spend £342,000 to refurbish the car park which is Common Land and in their service plans (discussed by the council last week) they hope to realise £100K - £120K revenue per annum. But, the council has publicly said they only want to re-surface it and there are no plans to charge.
Because it is Common Land the council has to apply to the Secretary of State for permission to refurbish the land. The application includes parking meters, and the council says there are no plans to be charge. The Wey Hill car park is very near the Weydown car park in Haslemere. Waverley Borough Council currently charges £860 per annum for a season ticket in the Weydown car park.
If you use this Wey Hill car park, there is a chance to write to the Planning Inspectorate over this course of action. You do not have to live in Haslemere to write. Here is more information: www.haslemereparking.com/...
