Bohunt School Car Park.
- Anon (15th Mar 2013 - 08:58:36)

I am seeing some of the most selfish and ill-mannered driving whilst dropping off at the school. Where it is obvious that there is no clear right of way I believe you should politely merge one by one rather than dropping your head, pretending there's no other cars waiting to exit the car park and sticking 2 feet behind the car in front to prevent anybody else easily leaving.

Also, there are two lanes when exiting the school onto the Longmoor Road. If you're turning right and you sit slap bang in the middle of the exit then chances are you're preventing someone behind from turning left when the road is clear.

We're all in a hurry so a little bit of thought and less selfishness will make it a less unpleasant and ultimately quicker experience for everyone.

I think most of us enter the school and drive right round, as a one way system, it may add a couple of minutes, but then we are all going one way and you take your turn to exit on to the Longmoor Road But.... there are those that try and park then head back out against the flow of traffic, thus causing the build up. This can be frustrating when you have duly lined up with everyone else then, lo and behold, the car that just came in gets back out before anyone else. Petty , I know, but one of those moments that really winds you up.
As for hogging the exit, that is just plain bad driving, were we not taught where to place your car at junctions . So obvious really, turn left, wait on the left.

MAYBE...... drop them off a short walk away from bohunt and let them walk in ?!!!
Good for their health and less stress for you?!

OR let them walk in if they live close enough ;)

I agree with RR on the kids walking to school

there should be a rule that if you live in liphook and have kids of bohunt school age they should be walking to school. this would leave the roads clear for other road user getting about the village.

Thanks rr and ss - not really what this thread is about though, is it? Fwiw, we're not in walking distance and have kids at multiple schools. One child does cycle on a regular basis and the other will as well when old enough.

The thread is about driving behaviour within the school itself which is appaling if you've ever experienced it.

If you feel so strongly about people you percieve drive to schools when they could walk, why not set up a separate thread?

The standard of driving and parking all around the village is terrible. People think that their journey is always more important than anyone else's. Nobody seems to give way even if its not their right of way, this happens around all the parked cars in the village, on the roundabouts or following a one way system at bohunt. Try driving through the avenue at sch time.
I am fed up with the lack of community spirit and respect for villagers/residents by arrogant driving and parking, it's time that east hants sorted out the main roads to help with traffic flow.
I suppose at least if its grid locked in the car park it means there is no speeding but that's just another can of worms.

yes our comments are relevant to the thread because if you didnt drop off children of secondary school age at the door (lets face it sometimes a short walk will do them good!!!) then a huge amount of traffic would be relieved around the school area and inconsiderate drivers that you were referring to would be elsewhere, less stressed and less inclined to drive badly :)
Yes i know full well before you ask about the traffic chaos and also see a number of parents dropping their kids off near sainsburys, or the coop or other areas close by and picking them up from there also....

My bug is inconsiderate people stopping to drop their child off or pick them up right in the middle of the narrow car park and not dropping them off in the big car park where the majority are dropped off! They stop at the bike shed bit and cause chaos as no one can get in or out!!!
