- ronald (13th Mar 2013 - 17:28:30)

have just heard via my local grape vine that mac d are going to try to build in liphook.....

If it's true, I'd imagine it'd be at the services rather than IN Liphook. No big deal, in my opinion.

Could explain why the Chondona's not open....

Oh great, where and when?!

I heard there might be a massive drive through Burger King on what is left of the OSU site.

Ronald, wouldn't you know if anyone would?!

I hope not. Petersfield is just far enough for my boys not to remember it's there.

Good.
More jobs for local people. Great news

I heard it was going to be on the old OSU site near Sainsburys. Can't wait for this.

Ronald - do you know the timescale?

You are now not able to have drive thru burger kings as they have new health and safety rules which are just so stupid

I really hope not! Although the food would actually be better than the sad excuse for a café that Sainsbury's have. McD's is dreadful. If we have to have any of these horrible chains a Burger King at least has nicer burgers. Or even better how about a Gourmet Burger Kitchen or a Pizza Express. Bit more class and better food. McD's is just expensive calories with no taste and little nutrition.

Great. Was just admiring the rubbish along the road side. Now I'll have lots more to look at. Not to mention the damage to our kids health as they spend their pocket money on rubbish and chips!!!!

IF the rumour is true then it is most likely to be at the A3 Southbound services, where land is available for a hotel and fast food outlet, see www.rightmove.co.uk/....

I have looked at the online Petersfield Post of 14/03/13 and see there is a Planning Application sent to EHDC - SDNP/13/00085/FUL which states "Alterations to provide two ordering points to drive through - McDonalds Restaurant Winchester Road GU32 3PL". Could this be how the rumour started?
Ronald, I know you heard through the "grapevine", but is there concrete evidence that an Application for McDonalds to build in Liphook, in particular on the old OSU Site, has been submitted? If so, the possible ensuing traffic problems, through Station Road, The Square, Midhurst Road etc, doesn't bear thinking about - it's bad enough already at certain times of the day!

I think Ronald (McDonald) and old Bur... King might be stringing us along along here, as in a good old spaghetti western. Or, could this be someone that hasn't been slapped with a gagging order.
Which grape, and which vine would this have grown from?
A secondary school = plenty of money
A village with too much traffic=
I feel a fight coming on!!

Forget your beef burgers, I heard they'll be a well known fried chicken establishment applying. Sounds finger lickin' good!

Re: new mac d in liphook ?
- Finchie (15th Mar 2013 - 07:49:23)

Please no ! That'll be my undoing !

I've been known to regularly go out for business dinners in the big smoke, and still unable to walk past Burger King at Waterloo on the way home without having a teeny weeny Whopper with Cheese before the last train (oh go on let's go large, it's a long train journey and I ate 3 hours ago). Note: My incredible self control and discipline stops me going for a Double Whopper.

Fast Food burgers are more addictive than cocaine. Fact.

This must be stopped at all costs. I'll be chaining myself naked to the OSU site fence. anyone care to join me ?

Now a Pret. I'd go for that. Healthy avocado wrap, and THE best chocolate croissants for a Friday treat (although probably more calories than a double whopper with cheese, but worth it, and cocoa beans are part of my five a day - right ?! )

Happy (mouth watering) Weekend, Finchie
