Council TAX - Steve (25th Mar 2004 - 10:27:47) I was having a great week until my new council tax bill came through the post. 5.7% increase on last year, 14% last year and what for exactly? My council tax is now nearly 1700 quid a year and I don't feel I get anything for it. The EHDC are rubbish and I only have my bins emptied alternative weeks, the police force as spoken about before do nothing except make money from over taxed drivers, the Fire service deserve more but get nothing, the bramshot parish council try hard I don't begrudge them the money and the NHS deserve more also. I know 5.7% is smaller than last year but I have felt for several years that we don't ever seem to be gaining anything for it. I don't mind paying for things providing I receive something back, I don't feel I receive anything back for this ridiculous amount of money. Bring back the poll tax, it must be cheaper.
