Nursery School garden fence
- Maureen (25th Feb 2013 - 20:39:26)
To the person who destroyed the fence at my Nursery. A polite phone call would have been welcome, this would of allowed me to repair the fence to make it safe for children to play in the garden. Thanks

Oh Maureen, sorry to hear your nursery fence seems to be suffering from the same sort of mindless vandalism as the play park and football goals.
My boys both loved their time at Little Cherubs - hope you are able to get it sorted.

Very sorry to hear about the damage to your Nursery School fence.
Which Nursery School are you?
What was the extent of the damage. Was the fence, or some of it removed?

Maureen's Nursery performs a great service in the community (I am not saying that others don't of course, but my own child went here, so I am biased). Perhaps it is time the Rec got blanket CCTV coverage, as too much vandalism seems to be centred in that area...Vandalism can be stamped out if the people who are doing it are reported. This week it was Maureen's Nursery, next week it could be something of yours...This code of silence in Liphook is tiresome, and has gone on long enough. If people don't stand up to the challenge then pretty soon Liphook will cease to be the place that everyone likes to live in.

Thank you Paul.
The Nursery is Little Cherubs Nursery. The fence encloses the back garden next to the bowling club. I have had a short term repair done on the fence but need to repair it long term for the safety of the children.

Our oldest son went there. He left over a year ago and still remembers you fondly Maureen. Sorry to hear about the vandalism.

It's not true that you can't install CCTV cameras in children's playgrounds as a quick Google search shows many Councils have done so to control vandalism.
There are very strict laws regarding who can view the pictures though.
Here is an example of one council who has installed CCTV

Thank you Eneida, that has been very helpful. It would be something that the nursery would have to discuss with all the respective parents to get consent etc.
I will discuss this as a possible way forward as they can be a deterrent albeit a very expensive one prone to attack.
The Council cameras at the MHall have been the target of attention by miscreants and vandals.

Re CCTV
PLEASE DONT BITE MY HEAD OFF FOR THIS
WE are meant to be a country with free speech........
I sure somebody will object to my comments but this is just my personal thoughts ( which we are allowed still I think )
Just trying to look at things from a different view point
surely the CCTV is only needed when the school is empty as I doubt vandals would attack in broad daylight when the school is attended ? ( mind you they are past caring so ...)
So the issue of children around is null and void.
If I was a parent I would want CCTV as a precation against trouble against a child
( proberley put a 10ft fence with razor wire to protect the little darlings)
I know people are so shall we say over the top with safety which YES I can understand but it needs to be in place BUT it needs to be balanced and not just a blanket cover over every safety aspect.
we have had several vandalism attacke around the village over the last few months more than before so maybe now is the time for cctv
IF YOUR NOT DOING ANYTHING WRONG YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.
Anyway you go shopping in a major town and there are cameras everywhere , I bet you dont even think about then There are always kids in say guildford with there parents
do parents ask that there childs images be removed for safety ????
An extreme situation but it makes you think....
Hope there are no more attacks and you get things sorted out ok.
Good luck this year with your LIB entry.

Hi Dawn,
I was referring more to the BLPC play grounds rather than to the Nursery itself...but you're quite right that it does seem to be a very expensive option indeed!!
The man from Tandridge District Council, in the example I posted, did say that in order to afford the CCTV coverage, they had less money to spend on the actual play equipment.
Such a sad state of affairs when the action of the very few spoil the enjoyment of the majority isn't it...
