liphook newswire
- Alex Cameron (23rd Mar 2004 - 15:08:16)

I just bought the liphook herald. No, i'm not proud of it, but i did. Mainly to read the article about the "raging" debate about village traffic.

Seeing as the herald hacks enjoy this kind of thing, it would seem to be a very interesting idea to provide them with some controversy every week via one of our threads here as a friendly service to fill those pages.

Ideas for stories very welcome - shock, horror, controversy and chaos, courtesy of the liphook.co.uk threadsters anyone?

My submissions:
"lollipop lady not there - shock claim"
"Sainsburys has destroyed entire town - residents call for lynchings"
"Silent majority in secret conspiracy to maybe say something someday and not be silent for a while - new shock"

Yeah, I agree Alex.

Did anyone see that naked man running through the village the other day? He was stopping all the traffic and signing autographs. He must of been famous. ;O)

There was a naked man running through the village? wtf?

I can't believe in a town of 20-something thousand people there isn't some serious weirdness or controversy...;) Come on people, inspiration!

There is plenty, they meet once a week at parish council meetings. ;o)

So, Steve, you'll be coming along to the annual Parish meeting on Monday night then (see other thread for details).

You'll recognise me instantly - two Rottweilers, pump-action shotgun casually laying over shoulder, and leather jacket with studs, astride a very large Harley.

Me and the lads can't wait to meet you

Grrrrrrrr

Hmmm, busy on Monday. Doing my hair, maybe some other time?

"LOCALS SHUN COUNCIL MEETING - END OF SOCIETY AS WE KNOW IT"

A shocking new report published this week on the infamous slander website 'liphook.co.uk' illustrates the terrible decline in loyalty to traditional democratic values, it is claimed by local gardeners. Local hairdresser Steve NeverPostedSurnameSoDontKnowIt, one of the those bycotting the annual Parish council meeting, commented "Don't my nails look nice? Parish what? No idea."

In other news:
"Julie Felix sell out concert - house prices to rise"
"Can asylum seekers give you cancer?"

Does anyone in your community have any photos of the King Georges Sanitarium.
I took my partners mother to the site last weekend. She worked there as a nurse during the war,and was very disappointed that it was demolished.
looking forward to your prompt reply

Alan -

I'd suggest you contact the Bramshott & Liphook Preservation Society. I'm sure they will have records/photos, etc.

They can be contacted via

Adrian Bird’s office:

Tel: 01428 722162
12 London Rd, Liphook GU30 7AN.

I know Adrian's office is only manned until lunchtimes and then he has the answerphone on - but he always returns calls promptly.

Good luck with search.

Freddie
