Hindhead Tunnel archive
- Heritage Centre (21st Feb 2013 - 13:24:15)

At the Liphook Heritage Centre our aim is to add constantly to our archives.

One of the most recent spectacular changes is the Hindhead Tunnel.

Regularly, during the construction of the tunnel, the Highways Agency released hard copies of newsletters.

We are now trying to establish a full set of these printed newsletters for our archives and wish to enquire if any readers of this post could either send a set to us or advise us where a set can be obtained.

We know it is possible to download these from the Highways Agency web site, but original printed copies are required.

For further information regarding the Heritage Centre please refer to our web site www.liphookheritage.org.uk

Thank you

I assume you've tried the contractors who produced the newsletters?

Highways agency Hindhead newsletters listed on their website and available from their archives apparently.

Thank you for your interest.
We have approached the consultants, contractors, The Highway Agency and all the local councils without success.
We know that we can download the Newsletters, but we always aim to keep original documents in our archives.

If you are so keen to have originals why didn't you collect them when they were initially distributed?

Well said Toni. You try to be helpful and get a curt reply!

Were the newsletters printed, or did the contractor merely use an office printer for them? If the latter, surely the source does not matter. I would also hope that as an interim fix, electronic copies of said documents have been obtained to ensure they are kept for posterity, even if no originals are forthcoming.
