MOD land
- Alex Cameron (18th Mar 2004 - 13:52:27)

Just a quick question to those in the know who might be able to answer. How amenable are the MOD (or whoever controls access and permission) to people using the longmoor ground (or others) for youth activities, e.g. paintballing?

Hmm. Have you considered landing a single engined Cessna on the Ark Royal. From whom would you ask permission? I don't, somehow, suppose Geoff Hoon would know.

Funny you should mention that. Thanks Mike - very helpful ;)

I know people walk their dogs there, and i remember training as a young army cadet at school. So how would the MOD react if we took all the obnoxious kids from Sainsburys and made them run around and shoot each other for an evening?

I've got no idea of the issues involved with that kind of thing - pretty sure Geoff Hoon doesn't have any idea about anything, let alone what the hell i'm going on about!

Can anyone tell me if there are any restrictions on using the track around the perimeter of the Longmoor ranges as a cycle track. Will I be subject to the latest interrogation methods if I get caught!! or even worse taken to Bordon Camp!!

Re permission to use MOD land.

Might I suggest that you make contact with the O.C. 321 unit at Longmoor Camp. His contact details can be obtained from the Guard Room at Longmoor Camp.

The perimeter track has formed part of sponsored walks and bike rides in the past but I believe that, with all organised activities, permission must be sought and is usually given.

Alex,

When you say shoot each other do you mean your going to supply them with AK47's or are we talking paintballing? Just a thought, the first option with live rounds maybe more interesting.

MoD are using the longmoor site more and more at the moment you may find that the security is stricter than it once was.
