Dog Thefts
- Eneida (6th Jan 2013 - 19:06:01)

I've seen in the local BBC South Today programme an article about a dog stealing gang operating in Hampshire, which is really appalling!!

Apparently this is now happening all over the country and I'm posting this link (if it works!) about a missing dog in another part of the UK posted by someone on a different forum I read...you never know where these scum move the dogs to sell them...

every one with dogs should be on their toes with this one.
i saw a watch dog type program that there is an on line scam going on which involves you rescuing puppies but you have to pay for quarentine fees and admin fees ect, and surprise surprise you get a message to say you can collect your puppy from a certain area and there is no puppy .
they get you with your heart strings.
a while back there were a group of men stealing staffs, bulldogs and mastiffs for illegal dog fighting in ireland. and they were caught just before sailing off.( not saying that all irish people are dog knappers)
also there are gangs that steal dogs for puppy farming and it sickens me to say this but for the fur trade. this can include cats too.
am not trying to scare any one but please dont let your dogs wander off if you can.

Taken from today's Crimestoppers Report

You may be aware from the media that some dogs have been stolen in Hampshire recently. The first incident took place on the evening of 30th Dec in Bullington near Andover, with a kennel containing 5 dogs being forced open and a six year old black and white male cocker spaniel stolen. The second incident occurred at around 3.00am on 31st Dec in Owslebury when 2 working cocker spaniels were stolen, one orange and the other chocolate. If anyone has any information about the second incident or seeing anyone acting suspiciously in the Owslebury area around the end of December please contact the police. But also of course please raise awareness of these incidents to your neighbours to ensure their dogs are kept safe.

A spayed or neutered dog has no value to those stealing to breed. Now it is pretty obvious if a male has been neutered but if you have a bitch make sure on one side of the ID tag it says I AM SPAYED & CHIPPED.

Also , make sure your dogs chip details are correct. Your vet can check that it has the correct registration details.

Rita, you're not saying that all Irish people are dog knappers. That's very nice of you. Actually maybe by saying it you do but that's another matter. I'm not saying that all Ritas perpetuate anti Irish stereotypes, no really.

She does have a point though, it does seem to be a past time of certain people. Always purchase dogs from a reputable source, and not from vehicles or fields.

Listen Tony this a serious thread about dog theft, which is a very upsetting experience for those owners unfortunate enough to lose their beloved pets!!

Please DO NOT bring it down to the level of silly point scoring so many threads here descend to...

tony
i was giving a reply to the reason why some poeple steal dogs. and that was just an example of what was told to me by the bulldog rescue people.
i made the point of saying that not all irish poeple steal dogs because there is always ONE who can take offense or TWIST things round.
being the owner of staffies and bulldogs i know what i am talking about.

Just linking some threads together here and not trying to draw any inferences but;

Maroon Vauxhall Monterey N840 UDP, mentioned in;
Litter Bugs
- Ed (28th Dec 2012 16:16:11)
STOLEN Horse - Info required
- Leonard (29th Dec 2012 17:05:04)

One thread mentions "The vehicle drove onto a private driveway and the occupants were seen looking at the kennels located at the house, when they realised they were being watched they quickly left the area".

This vehicle is still in this area and has been seen 02/01/13, 05/01/13, 07/01/13 in Liphook, Passfield and Lindford respectively. The Police have been notified. Any sightings please note and call 101

yes i saw the news too. i just cant begin to imagine what those poor owners must be going through. not only were they valubale working dogs, they are beloved pets as well.

i thought i heard it being mentioned that 2 arests were made in connection with the thefts, lets just hope that it stops and the dogs can be reunited with there owners.
