Under New Management
- Mark West (31st Oct 2007 - 07:56:07)

Hello everyone, just to let you that the Links is now under new management, The new managers name is Laura and she is very pleasant and wants to bring back the good old days to the Links. Alec and Mary are now based at the Hogs Lodge in Clanfield if you want to say hello????? Everyone welcome even old members of staff that have left.

Went to the Links last night for our Carnival meeting and the staff were extremely polite, helpful and friendly. Thanks again and look forward to seeing you at our forthcoming christmas 'do'

I was wary when Fullers took over the Links. The new management had a difficult job as so many of us were against any change. I think Alex and Mary settled in very well eventually and certainly couldn't have been more helpful with a recent event we had there. Dare I say it - the food was actually better than in the past. (Even though I was one of the first to complain about moules and chips -as opposed to frites). Now Fullers are moving them on. Bad decision guys (and girls). Soon there'll be nobody in in the Links apart from a cliquey few.

Good food at the Links. Certainly. The best for miles around? I don't think so.

Hi, All -

Well, I looked back at a thread about the local pubs and their food from a year ago. Considering how much many of them have changed - new owners, managers, landlords etc, though it might be an idea to open this discussion up.

How about a Talkback Independent Rating?

I'd start by:

5* excellent-1*disappointing

The Links -
can't score because I've not been there in ages, will check it out this weekend.

Royal Anchor -
Beer - **
Food - *
Welcome- ****

The Green Dragon -
Beer - ****
Food - not tried
Welcome - ****

The Black Fox -
Beer - ****
Food - ****/*
Welcome - *****

Sun Inn -
Not tried since take over a few weeks ago. Feel a Sunday lunch coming on.

On the previous owners:

Beer - ***
Food - ***/*
Welcome - ***/*

Rising Sun -

Welcome - ****

The Good Intent -
not tried recently.

Hawkley Inn -
used to be one of my favourites but not been there for ages - anyone been there recently? Trouble is, you have to arrnage a taxi well beforehand, as it's a bit out of the way and not everyone will pick up there later in the evening.

Pub with no Name -
Beer - ***
Food - ****
Welcome - ***

cheers!

Freddie

Freddie,

Thanks for your feedback, but you haven't told us why each score was gained?

Hi, Ben -

Purely personal opinion based on experiences of various hostelries.

As I've not been in some of them for a while, I made the point of only scoring those I've frequented in the past few weeks.

We all like different food, different atmospheres, so it's very much meant as a bit of fun.

cheers!

Freddie
