Beautiful Liphook!
- n young (30th Oct 2007 - 17:03:14)

Driving home this afternoon I couldnt help but notice how lovely our part of the world is looking. Now the nights are drawing in and the sun sets earlier, it is nice to see the many colours on the trees and our landscapes.
I know we all have our gripes, moans and groans about where we live but really we are lucky not to have an outlook on a concrete jungle & have to put up with all that comes with living in a city.
Throughout all the seasons, the teams & organisations behind looking after our village's appearance work hard (liphook in bloom, council groundstaff etc etc) , without them Liphook would be a different place.
On a recent trip to see friends in Milton Keynes , I couldn't wait to get home! (no offence to the folk of MK of course)...I have never seen so many roundabouts...concrete cows (?!!) and best of all...when driving around you don't see anyone!!...for those that have been you will know what im talking about.
So sometimes, it is good to sit back and look at where we are & most of all enjoy!

Nikki

Too true, we do have very colourful and fantastic views, one of the best can be seen along the Portsmouth Road, comming out of Station Road, the sunset tonight was as good as any 'holiday sales shot' with wide open vista, over the Bohunt Estate, but how long for? If the owner gets the go ahead would we then be looking at the sides of houses etc. Just a thought.

Hi

Just returned from attending the Liphook in Bloom Presentations. It is their 10th year in operation and we were treated to a slide show of their work and how it has progressed by leaps and bounds over the years. They have produced a DVD of the work which can be purchased at the Parish Office for £5. I cannot begin to describe just how much work goes in to Liphook in Bloom throughout the year and its amazing how much support and sponsorship they receive to make it all possible. The results of their efforts have such an impact on our daily lives as we drive or walk through the village. So, if all you do is to purchase a DVD then that will help towards keeping up the high standards throughout the year.

Well done to all the team, you deserve so much credit, more than you receive.

Best wishes
Barry

I am posting this in my individual capacity and not reflecting the views of Bramshott and Liphook PC. Yes we have beautiful views around liphook at the moment, wonderful autumnal colours, I wish I was handy at photography!. As already reported in the herald there is to be a public meeting regarding Bohunt Manor land at the Millenium Centre on Tuesday November 27th. This meeting will be in the evening and start with a presentation by Chris Beaver from Nash Partnership who are private planning advisors.

Barbara, do you have any idea what the meeting is designed to achieve? Is it another attempt by the owners to get us all to agree about use of the land for housing?

Yes, that would appear to be the height of it. And, as we still live in a democracy, I have no doubt that they will be interested to hear your opinions of the plans they have for development of the site. Just beware of Greeks bearing gifts!
