Seeking help for homeless person
- Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council (16th Dec 2025 - 20:42:06)

We are appealing to any kindhearted local residents who may be able to help a resident in need.
We are aware of a woman who has found herself homeless in Liphook through no fault of her own and she is now having to sleep outside, without shelter, as she doesn't qualify for help by the District Council.
A charity are keeping an eye on her but all they can offer her is a sleeping bag and some waterproof items to keep her dry.
She is urgently seeking work and ideally a live in position. She is desperate to start earning some money and has a good employment history and plenty of experience. Once she has a job she can start to claim benefits and get herself a rental property.
Her most urgent need is somewhere warm and dry to stay. We are very concerned for her well being and she just needs some help for a short while as she gets back on her feet.
If you can help in any way with either accommodation or a job, please contact the Parish Council either via this page, by email to council@bramshottandliphook-pc.gov.uk or by calling 01428 722988.

Hi,
Maybe an older person living alone, with a spare room.
The person can provide company, and help around the home.

I’m very baffled by this. If the said person lived in liphook and for no reason to herself is homeless and jobless and can’t claim any help because she is jobless that’s ridiculous. All these illegal migrants NOT working claiming benefits and also loads of out of work or not wanting to work getting huge benefits . Something just doesn’t sound right. Would like more information because if this is correct then the government should be ashamed and resign.

I agree with Russ Ellis. This post does not make sense at all.

I drove past the little green earlier opposite Sainsbury , where the delivery collection point is and where Liphook in bloom always have a lovely display.
There was somebody wrapped up in sleeping bags on the bench with some possessions in bags.I'm guessing this is the person that is being described. Surely some authorities may be able to sort this out, legitimately down on your luck if this is the case there must be some help! No!?
We don't have the space at home but if its as true as it reads I'd like to think someone could possibly help out even if just for the festive period and give them a chance to sort something better out.

Who knows how long any of us would last if the wheels of life fell off.

We are unable to disclose personal information about this individual. We would not have posted here if we were not extremely concerned about her welfare and have exhausted all possibilities working alongside other agencies.

We have paused our search for work and accommodation currently but she is being monitored by the correct organisation.

Thank you to everyone who contacted us via our social media posts with generous offers of help and support. The Liphook community is incredibly kind.

Sorry but this still doesn’t make sense. If illegal migrants can claim huge benefits without working why can’t someone down on her luck claim the same. If she has been working and paid her dues she must be entitled to benefits of some sort. Thanks for replying Parrish council and it’s good your on the case but think someone higher up should be looking at this.

Why isn't a parish councillor or, better still, a district councillor helping her. The Distict Council has responsibility for providing local housing and welfare? They have an emergency number which the Parish Council should have!

What is going wrong with the system? A person's situation, however distressful, should not be made public like this!

Hi,
It is a disgrace, community support in 2025, cannot to provide shelter in these cold, and sometimes frosty nights, for this women.
It must be very hard to stay alive in this climate, and hungry.

I also agree with Russ- this still doesn't seem to make sense. Whilst noting the disclosure comments, it is obvious that only part of her story has been shown.

It has not been made clear why local authorities and charities are either not responsible, are unprepared or are unwilling to resolve her situation. In my opinion and with the information provided so far, this is a very unreasonable request to ask local residents to take on. I cannot believe that the best offer of help by the authorities is to 'monitor' her homelessness.

The Parish Council post earlier this afternoon appeared to be more positive. Has any solution been found yet?

I think if you read between the lines the lady may have voluntarily left accommodation where she felt unsafe. If you voluntarily leave accommodation then the local authority does not have a duty to re home you. That only applies if you are forced out of accommodation. As the lady has no children then the local authority has no obligation. Probably she had no claim to the property where she was living formerly. I notice most of the postings were from men who may not be aware of how harsh it is for a woman who leaves a partner. There is no automatic right to council accommodation or b and b if you do not have children and are not evicted by force.

Still think it’s disgusting that we have people living on the streets and can’t claim any help when thousands of illegal migrants come here and are given everything accommodation, food, money, phones, while our citizens are not helped some being veterans that fought for this country. The system has to change.
