Could you be a volunteer driver? - Chris Morris (26th Sep 2025 14:29:58)
If so Liphook Voluntary Care would love to hear from you. No costs to you (no special insurance needed and fuel/car costs paid per mile). Very flexible - you decide when you can help. Many of our drivers do just one trip/week or less. A typical journey would be a return journey to the Royal Surrey Hospital to take a local (probably elderly) person to a medical appointment. A great way to volunteer locally and really help the local community. Interested? Want to know more? - then either contact us on 01428 723972 or send us an email to: Liphook.voluntary.care@gmail.com

I am one of the existing drivers, and recommend the role for anyone with a car and few spare hours during the week.
Times of driving are not pre-fixed; a driver does as little or as much as suits him/her..
I am 'retired' and easily fit the role in with my normal everyday living.
You get a mileage allowance; with the new ANPR system at Guildford Hospital I find there are now plenty of parking spaces at the Hospital and you get the parking-fee refunded.

As someone who has been involved with Voluntary Care for many years and around 10-14 as a driver I can say what a very rewarding experience my years as a volunteer driver were and a great opportunity to give something back to the community.
