France
- Worried (8th Sep 2025 17:20:02)
Is all kicking off in France the government is in tatters. Le Pen looks like she might come to power. And if she overturns her court hearing she can run for President again. The country is just about bankrupt.

The best thing for France would be to elect le'pen's party
Left wing / liberal politics is completely dead and not capable of solving today's problems.

France has never had a stable government since the Revolution. There is much to be said for a Royal Family who adapt and survive - some stability because no-one has absolute power - example - Trump, President Xi Jinping, Kim Jong Un, Putin etc, etc.

What I love about the french is they still have the b**ls to throw a revolution on any given day of the week ! What happened to us, how are we so subservant ?
Ill tell you.....
we have been sold an image of royalty, of empire, hows those dreams working out for us ?
The English have a fierce reputation for conquering the world.. invading loads of different countries and then getting upset when those people follow them home.
About time we started behaving like the French and not put up with the illusions being sold to us by those in charge, its not the immigrant ruining your life... its the rich and powerful selling you that story. it us and its them

I don't know your age, Sam, but do you remember a programme (shan't call it a comedy) in the 1970's called "Citizen Smith"?
Power to the people.

President Trump advises to bring in the military to stop the illegal emigration problem. Our navy could patrol the channel with the border force its more important to secure our borders than sit in port doing nothing. It’s time this government got real and do something instead of pussyfooting around it .

Hear hear, now he's heard it from the boss maybe he'll do something. Good dog.

Re: France
- Joe (19th Sep 2025 09:46:59)
I do not think our Navy have enough boats available! They already do a certain amount of helping the border force but a change in the law is needed first because they will get sued if it looks as if they are endangering life.

 |
Re: France
- D (19th Sep 2025 18:23:47)
Australia managed it, all it takes is for one boat to be turned around. But given how under Kier Starmer's government there is currently an ex-servicemen being prosecuted over events in Northern Ireland over fifty years ago, you're probably right Joe.

Re: France
- Worried (19th Sep 2025 21:27:31)
Load of rubbish Joe . We have more than enough military sea boats in our forces to patrol the channel SAS for starters. Tow them back to France and dump them on their beaches. And puncher the boats. They would soon get it .

Re: France
- Joe (19th Sep 2025 22:33:03)
The small boat problem has been around for years and the previous government did not order the Navy to stop the boats? There must have been a good reason why they did not do this either?

Re: France

The former chief of the navy has said this is nonsense-the navy can't escort or tow small boats back to France. Full stop. End of.

Re: France
- D (20th Sep 2025 11:41:08)
No one's on about towing boats, Passfield Resident. Just stopping them coming over. Would save the R.N.L.I. a lot of work.

Re: France
- passfield resident (20th Sep 2025 15:01:42)
How do you stop them? What exactly would the navy do?

Re: France
- Worried (20th Sep 2025 17:37:10)
The government can make changes to orders . We are nearly on a war footing regarding our borders so drastic measures must be implemented. Our forces need to be brought into use they are here to protect us protect this country. This government is failing us something has got to be done.

Re: France

Just seen over a 1000 came on Friday illegally. And I think I’m right the one in one out scheme doesn’t apply to any coming by boats . It means we deport one and France sends us one that’s been waiting a long time. How completely ridiculous is that . Makes a mockery of this country and government. The French must think we are idiots we pay them millions to stop the boats leaving their shores while their police stand and watch then won’t take them back you couldn’t make it up .
