Alas we have acquired a mole and our garden looks like a Somme model.
We have tried a few suggestions for humanely discouraging it from staying, but it is continuing to destroy our garden.
Has anyone any recommendations for a mole catcher?
No more suggestions please for techniques as they aren’t working!!

I have recently used Matt Hammond who lives in Petersfield. He was excellent and he caught a very active mole
I had 14 mole hill in our back garden.

Put child's windmills - the type you buy at the seaside - in the mole hills. As the wind spins them it sends vibrations through the earth that the moles don't like.

Moles can be very destructive in a garden and of course on cricket pitches tennis courts etc . If everything else fails you have to catch them. Sorry ratty but it’s what happens in the country it’s not like the townies think rats are a menace as well. That’s why farmers have cats and dogs running around.
I can recommend Greg Renders 01252 722604. I've used him for several years and he is very successful at catching them (unlike me).

Put a creosote soaked rag in the tunnel and cover in soil. Worked for me.
In the UK, traditional creosote, a wood preservative, is still available, but only for professional and industrial users. The sale and use of creosote to the general public were banned in 2003. Creosote is regulated under the UK REACH Regulation and is permitted for specific industrial uses like telegraph poles.

An alternative called creosolve is available commercially. Smells the same as creosote, and it’s the smell that gets rid of the mole.

Although the sale and use of creosote have been banned to the public, you can still buy it on ebay (£79.99 for 20 litres). Search for original creosote.
