They've done it again - AF (14th Feb 2025 - 04:15:19)
So Comrade Starmer is worried that he hasn't upset anyone for at least a week and the farmers don't dislike him enough so he's come up with another cunning plan.
He's going to review the firearm licensing laws(which are already some of the toughest is the democratic western world) so it will be more difficult to own a shotgun, which farmers need to control vermin.
He's already more than doubled the cost of a licence.

Excellent! Keep up the good work Keir!

I don’t see how this is a bad thing. Strict gun regulations help keep us all safe.

Imagine if they put the same effort into knife crime!

I think gun licences have to be renewed only once every 5 years so although the cost of them are going up to I think £122.00 for every five years there are more urgent costs to think about in life.

Firearms certificate grants saw a 125% increase from £88 to £198, while shotgun certificates were hit by a 144% increase from £79.50 to £194. @ Joe whilst I agree £194/£198 is not a huge amount to pay where else has this government increased anything else by 125%/144%.
We have extremely tough gun licencing rules in the UK and yet this government will be bringing in tougher licencing measures for shotgun certificate holders with a ruling that shotguns will have to be kept off farm which would probably result in many shotgun owners giving up licences altogether.
Apparently a new consultation is due to take place later this year on aligning controls on shotguns with other firearms after the Labour government determined they were no less lethal than other firearms. Have they ever heard of repeater rifles?
Agree with WUND the government’s time should be spent putting more effort into controlling knife crime which is far, far more common than gun crime in this country. As usual they get their priorities wrong and always target the minority who cannot fight back. However, they are always happy to “rollover” and have their tummies tickled by the Unions and the Public Sector.

The figures quoted by the above poster are for new licences not for renewals of a current licence.

Yes if they put the same effort into running the country properly would be a start. STOPPING the boats and deporting the illegal emigrants helping business to employ more people not handing out huge pay raises to train drivers that are already on high wages as the civil servants are .
They are screwing the business that employ people so that has the effect of unemployment that in turn buggers up the economy. They have got it completely the wrong way round wealth means prosperity and a good economy people employed with money in their pockets to spend. They just haven’t got a clue.

I’ve heard that the Houses of Parliament actively monitor the Liphook forum and are very interested in AF’s policy insights, hopefully AF’s comments on this UK wide media outlet will bring about change for our country. However the intelligence services have suggested AF is an automated bot posting nonsense from an algorithm that isn’t smart enough to legitimise their posts with an actual name.
