Broadband in Passfield
- Nic (17th Mar 2022 - 15:57:38)

Hi, just wondering which broadband provider residents in Passfield tend to use? It’s time to switch but not familiar with anyone other than BT,

Thanks

Helpfully, not a clue!

But there was a whole thread about quantum lightspeed super amazing fast broadband out there in the fringes of Passfield if enough of you pooled your resources and signed up! Apparently you would be able to download (or was that upload) the entire back catalogue of Final Fantasy Black Ops Deliverance 6 in under 10 seconds and noone would ever need to leave their sofas again. I think it was something to do with a super quantum government funding, Hampshire Council grants and or BT (or was that ET?) Openreach benevolence or something?

We were promised that maybe, the future had arrived, if people signed up and then some other things happened. Does anyone know if they ever happened? Do you guys now hold the key to the future? Is Passfield now Futurefield? Or was it all a terrible, big government lie to appease the shires? Did the diabolical Boris Johnson fool us all, are we doomed to live with 30Mbps download speeds forever, will Deliverance freeze over? Will Earth 2160 implode? stay tuned...until tomorrow!

We use sky broadband. It's pretty good.

I think it depends on whereabouts in Passfield you are.
The old village, near the junction of Passfield Road and Tunbridge Lane, has (I think) fibre to the cabinet, so not too bad. Passfield Common, on the other hand, does not.

i think BT had the monopoly on the exchange in passfield but since taking over Plusnet , this is an option and i found it worked well.

I thought passfield internet was all sorted out given the posts from someone going back some 6 years now about signing up to fibre to the premises gig?

Just go to show you, all these gigs never actually take off, don't move to a remote place with a tiny population 3+ etc miles from the nearest exchange and then moan about the speed of the internet as no-one is going to invest 100k+ in making it better if all they get in return is £40 a month from a few dozen people.... facts

Oh Sam! Are you having a grumpy day?

The Passfield internet is indeed being sorted, it is just taking some time for the scheme to progress since the upgrade has to start from Haslemere, but it is progressing. Sorry to disappoint you from our little wild hollow of Passfield miles from anywhere. How silly we are to live here! Still, the bonus is the nice people, the National Trust countryside on our doorstep. That would be why people move here and actually none of us are moaning, we’re just waiting patiently for our upgrade.
