Woodland for trials riding
- Matt (15th Feb 2022 - 22:23:40)

I am looking for some woodland to use with my son to teach him motorcycle trials riding ( like Kickstart in the 80s).

Is there anyone who could recommend a location or even allow permission? Liphook or 7 miles radius would be amazing.

Really appreciate it.

Regards
Matt

Brick kiln Farm, Four Marks. Two good clubs are the Witley Motorcycle Club and the Portsmouth Motorcycle club. They both have events at Iron Hill and Bordon. There are a few byways open to all traffic round here but not of any great length. Hope this helps, hope it's a two stroke. Brrrrrp, brrrrrp!

Hi Matt,
Unfortunately there isn’t anywhere that local any more. The nearest place is Hook Wood Trials Centre at East Horsley. There are also a few clubs for the kids Surrey Youth and Surrey Schoolboys Trials Club.

Good luck.

As mentioned above , not much in the way of public access but rhere are some great clubs . Including the ones above North Hants MCC and Bognor are both super relaxed and friendly. You could do a local trial nearly every week. The entry level events are a great way to learn and you see everyone from wobblers , toddlers and older guys on twinshocks. In my experience a great scene and group of peoplle.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll get in contact with the clubs He doesn’t have an Oset anymore which you can use anywhere. I’ll be getting him a 50cc trials. I’ll keep looking for some woodland nearby too- that’s the important one.

I hope you find somewhere suitable. Your best bet would probably be to find a local enthusiast who also happens to own some woodland that they'd be willing to let you use. Possibly the clubs mentioned above might have a list of people and places.

Whatever you do, please don't use the local nature reserves, commons and wildlife areas, as some other riders have been doing!

Why would I ride on a nature reserve? I’d do that if I were an imbecile - thus the ask to local trial riders.

I know it's a bit further than you want but I've ridden Brick kiln Farm myself. They have a purpose built track with woops and burms as well as a wooded area with huge craters. A good place to give your son one-to-one tuition without the distraction of an actual event. Last time I went it was ten quid for very much as long as you want. Go during the week and you'll have the place to yourselves. Off road enduro riding at a young age does make for a better rider on the road when he gets his licence. Have fun.

There's a couple of places down the 272 aren't there? One on the right not far off the A3, the other on the left just after the West Meon crossroads
