Letters from Drs Surgery
- Casey (5th Feb 2022 - 19:06:38)

My household received 6 identical letters from The Swan Medical practice this morning advising of the merger. What a waste of money posting out 6 identical letters, surely the technology exists to mail shoot by address, although an email would have been fine and surely more cost effective. I wonder how much this exercise cost the practice and how much could have been saved by using email or just sending 1 letter to each address. Seems like madness to me.

Quite agree, my husband and I both received the same letter, and they even sent one to my 18 month old great grandson, what a waste

And they told us computers would make us a paperless society 🤣🤣

As for emails I can see the logic. As for the idea one letter to each household, I can only think, thank god the OP is not in charge of NHS data protection😂😂😂

Seriously, I think the regulator wouldn't sanction it, not every household member is always with the same surgery and you cannot guarantee one person will share the information, plus letters not addressed personally are often ignored.

Obviously they need to ensure everyone is privately and personally informed.

With my silly hat on, I found it slightly amusing that the letter says challenging pressure is being placed on the NHS and GPs by our 'increasingly ageing' population. If they can find a way to make us age decreasingly I'll be very interested!

This also apparently creates more complex health needs (than before) well all I can say is buy the latest text book!😂😂😂

I can’t understand why it takes over a week to get a repeat prescription singned by a doctor and forwarded to the chemist . It’s all done by computer can’t understand it.

Hi,
Maybe nowadays Data Protection laws will allow only one letter to an individual, not collective as a family. Also patient confidentiality to comply with medical records.
